Aston Martin May Source Mercedes Inline 6 Cylinder Engines For Future Models
Aston Martin hit the headlines when it announced that it would borrow engines and electronics from Mercedes-AMG. The DB11 was the first Aston Martin to get electronics from Mercedes, and the company recently revealed a new V8 version that borrows the 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine from an AMG GT. In an interview with Drive, the DB11's Vehicle Line Director, Paul Barritt, said that the company could look for other Mercedes engines to help meet increasingly strict fuel economy standards.

Makes sense. If 2 turbo's are added their will be plenty of power. Vantage models can be an inline 6. DB11 models a V8 and Vanquish models a V12.

Having said that, Aston now owns the plant that makes the V12 engines used in its cars. I had hoped that it could keep things in house and just reduce that engine to 8 cylinders or as a V6. But perhaps having a client engine made by Mercedes is a cheaper and more productive way to go.
