RUMOR MILL: Jeep Considering A Smaller Model To Slot Below The Renegade
Have you ever dreamed of a pocket Jeep – if you did, your desire might come true, although according to the latest report, the automaker is only considering such a model for certain regions.

Jeep is finally going to debut the much anticipated, spied and leaked next-generation Wrangler at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show this December, ahead of hitting dealerships early next year. Later in 2018 the automaker is also allegedly going to deliver the pickup version, rumored to be called the Scrambler, with showrooms packing it in early 2019. According to the latest rumor though, this isn’t the only interesting model Jeep is preparing, because sources are reporting there will also be a never before seen A-segment SUV to enter the lineup below the Renegade.

If it's smaller than a Renegade--already pretty tiny--it will need some reason for existing that draws people in. A smaller "Renegade" would be ridiculous. A Jeep "sports car" would be interesting to do. A Jeepster that is a 2+2, dune-buggy-like, AWD , on-road, sporty thing could work. Selling it in the USA could also work if it's the next "hot" thing. And it could be.

Well let's see TomM the Renegade is a Fiat. The Compass is a Fiat. The Cherokee is a Fiat. Your point?

Maybe Jeep can do something coupe-like or in similar fashion to the M-B GLA/Infiniti QX30. Idk.

But they need to definitely do the Wagoneer & Grand Wagoneer...and not do something goofy.

This is FCA - remember- and remember where they are likely to get a SMALLER platform - from the FIAT parts bin.

So - ask yourself the question - do you really want an disguised Fiat with a Jeep Nametag for more money?

Note that the image on this page is a the Jeepster concept, brought out by AMC in 1979 and again by Chrysler in 2005, which obviously never made it into production: https://www.allpar.com/SUVs/jeep/jeepster.html

So don't hold your breath for this image to be the new vehicle.

Wrangler is getting large. A “baby” Wangler with a soft top would make sense for younger, cost conscious buyers. Guess that would make the existing one the Grand Wrangler.

So Jeep is going toe to toe with Mini.
Who will have the larger wheels?

Does a short ladder come standard with the Jeep to climb up and into the Junior Jeep?
