Disappointed Italian Businessman Vents Anger By Destroying Multiple BMWs

A businessman from Italy named Hadi Pourmohseni was so disappointed with the quality of his leased 2008 BMW M6 and with the dealer’s service that he decided to ruin the car with a sledgehammer and axe outside the Frankfurt Motor Show. That was in 2013. On Tuesday (over four years later) Pourmohseni set a 7 Series on fire outside of BMW headquarters in Munich. This guy just needs to get over it.

Oh, but don’t think Hadi has only destroyed BMWs on those two occasions. In 2014, he actually fixed up the car he had sledgehammered/axed the year prior, only so he could smash it with a sledgehammer again outside of the Geneva Motor Show. Then in 2015, he set a BMW Z3 on fire, according to German newspaper Münchner Merkur.

I think he is having a fairly typical BMW ownership experience.

It must be nice to have money to burn (literally).

As for Truthy's "I think he is having a fairly typical BMW ownership experience", I've owned 4 BMWs, dating back as far as 1997, some of which I owned for 18+ years, and I found ALL of them to be reliable, generally problem-free vehicles.

Today's defect numbers for BMW indicate they're better than the industry average, so methinkst dude has personal issues he's taking out on his cars.

His leased 2008 M6? A 9 year lease? Maybe this story isn't completely fact checked. I once had a 2000 323i Sport. Great driving car. At 175k (km) it started to fall apart. 4 new shocks, both front window motors, dash fan motor etc. Oddly enough after that repair in the fall it got totaled as I was hit from behind. My 4Runner is 13 years old. Everything still works. I have only replaced the muffler.

I had similar disappointment in a 2001 325i. It was a hand-me-down from my wife as a kid's transport. First 4 years under warranty and free maintenance - no problem.

As soon as the odometer hit 50K miles, things started to break. All 4 window regulators failed one at a time within 6 months. A dead battery at 55K miles (after 2 weeks idle while on vacation) which somehow destroyed the ECU. Then a MAP sensor failed. Then engine began to run hot - the coolant reservoir broke twice, the car got overheated twice in separate occasions (not related to the reservoir). The second overheat was the last straw. I traded it in for a 2-year old 350Z Roadster which came off early lease return (I would have traded it in for a Z4 if the 325i was a little more reliable). Overall, the 325i was the most unreliable car I had driven - outside of a Fiat that I had in early 80's.

For comparison, my daily driver, an 11-year old Jaguar XJ with 120K miles, is relatively more reliable despite its poor reputation (knock on wood). Post-warranty repairs on the Jag are very expensive, but the failures are predictable and understandable (wear and tear items such as transmission gasket leak, air suspension and alternator, all failed around 80K-100K miles). Resale value of the Jag is in the toilet but the car runs great - it's a keeper. Although I will be replacing it with a Model 3 later this year, the Jag will be missed.

"Hadi Pourmohseni" doesn't sound very Italian. He's from Italy, but the name definitely suggests another heritage.

Is it that hard to believe Italy is not a totally homogenous country?

@delan you are too stupid to understand the implied subtext of what I said about modern day Italy.

There is something wrong with this guy...if he hated that M6 so much why in the world would he buy another BMW??
