First Look: 2007 Audi S6 by Motor Trend

"Audi's spin doctors seem to be having trouble with this one. They tell us the S6's 5.2-liter V-10 is the "most unstressed in the class," that it has the lowest specific output among its competitors. On the other hand, Audi makes great play of this V-10's relationship with the one in the Lamborghini Gallardo. An unstressed supercar engine? Say what?

Only one way to find out: Hit the gas. There's never a moment's doubt an epic reserve of low-down torque is at play here, and the direct fuel injection wastes no time in deploying it. The six-speed auto transmission flicks the changes the instant the tach needle kisses the big seven. It ratchets speed in an effortless torrent as we careen toward the 155-mph limiter."

I compare the Audi S6 to the Lexus LS460.

It's my opinion.

Such a great car... and dont let the "engine in front of the forward axle" put u off, because it is extremly hard to get his car to understeer

Love the S6... saw a new S8 the other day! It's very cool-looking with that new grille and the quad exhausts.

And the RS4... now when will they make an RS4 Cabriolet? Can I get one through European Delivery for 25% off?

I can dream...

But the new RS6 will be a monster... if it still has twin-turbos, imagine the enhancements you can make to a 550hp V10 twin-turbocharged engine!

Weird... he loves the S4 and RS4.

I think the S6 Avant is easily the best-looking wagon in the world, followed distantly by the Mercedes E55/E63 AMG estate.

The upcoming Audi RS6 will have a 5.2 liter 520-550 horsepower twin-turbocharged V10 engine.

You think the RS4 with its 420 horsepower naturally aspirated V8 is fast, wait for this car.....

I had an encounter with a new S6 couple of weeks ago. I was behind a truck going about 40, and he was right behind me. He then passed me on the left, going from 40 to about 80 in a matter of moments. I was awestruck at how fast he accelerated. I tried to keep up with him, but no way. My 2002 S4 is no slouch but I couldn't hang.

It's definitely a sleeper. It looks pretty much like a regular A6. But this thing is monster.

get the m5. trust me. this car is slotted way below, because audi's engineering cannot compare. to say nothing of the wight and forward bias. its a pig.

thats my opinion.

AmazingBimmer of course you are talking about the Audi engineering which can defeat any BMW on the Ring, costs more than any BMW and will also defeat any BMW in a straight-line as well as having a faster slalom time and shortest braking distance when compared to any BMW.

Of course you are talking about the Audi S6. Surely, not the forthcoming RS6 which will eat the BMW M5 alive.

Is this LOGICAL???
it must be...same thinking, same ignorant thinking.
Yeah you are right, the Lambo engine is crap....LOL!!
And Yes, the RS6 will eat the M5.

Dont judge the S6 by the pictures!!! When u see it in reality the wider bumpers and fenders make it look like a tank... if i can pull my money together in the next year or so... ITS GONNA BE MINE

AmazingBimmer: I dont trust you, second part of ur comment looks like u dont know much about cars at all

AmazingBimmer there is no M5 CSL. There never will be. I think you mean the M6 CSL. That is a possibility.

Why are you comparing the M6 CSL to the Audi RS6?

You are aware that one is a coupe the other a sedan.

The Audi R8 V10 should be compared to the M6 CSL.

That will be a good fight because the M6 CSL will be a stripped down version of the overweight M6.

I don't think BMW will shed nearly enough weight from the regular M6 to make it weigh equal to the R8.

The R8 with V10 will have near 500 horsepower and will eat your M6 alive on the track, staright-line, slalom and braking distance as well.

Of course Audi engineering sucks, they can only sell cars for higher prices than BMW, their cars are only faster than any BMW on the Ring, in a straight-line, through the slalom and have shorter braking distances than any BMW.

These aren't subject to one's personal opinion either. They are cold, hard facts.
