NASCAR Teams Stand United Behind The Flag - Take A Knee, Pack Your Bags

As the sports world continues to erupt over President Trump’s call for the NFL to get rid of the “son of a bitch” players who protest during the national anthem, one sport still giving Trump seemingly unequivocal support—at least among its owners—is NASCAR, where every crew member stood for the anthem Sunday before the ISM Connect 300 in New Hampshire.

This was apparently in deference to NASCAR owners, many of whom made no secret of what would happen to anyone on their teams who dared do otherwise.

Lol. A sea of entitlement-minded white people who never have to worry about getting their head blown off at a simple traffic stop worrying about taking a knee. Simpletons all.

Thank you both for your racism.

The reality is that black lives don't matter to the black lives matter crowd. The number of black people being killed through violence each year has one category that is a larger cause of black deaths than the others combined. Black on black violence is the number one cause of murders of black people, NOT the police. That statistic is widely documented and verified. Saying that will bring on cries of racism, but that's what people do these days when they cannot handle the truth. Let your heads explode. I'm OK if you're offended by facts.

Well Darringer as usual you’re talking loud and saying jack. I love how you guys drop the black on black crime stat at every chance you get. While also forgetting to mention White in white crime. The statistic also shows that you’re more likely to be killed by someone you know than any other race.
You are in NO position to decide on how or to whom black lives matter to. We can discuss it but this is a car site.
No as far as the flag and the anthem goes it wasn’t even a requirement for the NFL to even be on the field until 2009 when in an effort to recruit the Armed Services started to sponsor the NFL. Check the facts and I hope you’re offended. Furthermore you see my email address if you want to discuss it further feel free to hit me up.

@TauronB2G

Per capita, black and black murder is much higher than white on white crime.

Per capita, the largest group of perpetrators of violent crime are black.

You may not like the truth because it is inconvenient to you being able to play the cultural victim card.

From the official NFL rule book.... (This gives the Steelers an out, BTW. Although I can't imagine Dan Rooney ever allowing it-or the kneeling crap-to go on. Jerry Jones is spot on with his stand.)

The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the league rulebook. It states:

“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.

“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

Disregard the 'out' the Steelers have...they should be punished by the league along with any other team who disrespects the flag. Goodell is a spineless weasel. Condi for Comissh!!!

It's unfortunate that Kaepernick and the Progressive Left have decided to politicize everything possible to meet their ideological views on what is politically correct. Many Americans of all races and colors tune into sports to escape the crazy hyper-partisan world that has existed for the last 15 years or so. I understand that these primadonna NFL and NBA athletes have a right to do whatever they want, but they have to be aware that a super majority in this country do not agree with them and find their actions disgusting. I agree with other comments on here that there are so many other ways to protest and get your feelings out, but I don't think the national anthem is a good choice. Moreover, I wonder how many of these players who took a knee yesterday are actively spending many many hours of their own time volunteering to help out those who they are protesting for. My guess is that many are not spending consistent time in volunteer organizations that address whatever injustices they are kneeling for.

Well said. If a large portion of fans stop attending games or buying merchandise, that will ultimately trickle down to impact the wallets of these players. Owners are not going to be paying as great of salaries for a business that is not generating as much revenue, and as ratings drop, networks will not be able to charge as much for advertising. Heck, if I am a company that has sponsored the NFL or NBA, I would think twice about keeping that sponsorship as there will be a backlash of the silent majority who disagrees with the actions of these players.

The most common misconception out there is that Kaepernick is being black balled by his views. The reality probably is at best he would be a third string place holder on any roster due to his abilities. Tie in his unorthodox style, dismal performance on field AND the controversy and you can see why no one wants him.

IF he had knelt at the beginning of his protests rather than sit he would arguably have a better leg to stand on. This way he could have shown the participation and the protest in unison. Kinda of hard to argue that kinda point.

By all means he is within his rights to protest, however he also is paying a price he brought on to himself.

Either way why are none of the protestors pushing for dialogue? That is what is needed not necessarily the blind protest.

Kaeperkick trumped up the "take a knee" BS because his skills are mediocre at best and he wanted to milk the "black victim" gravy train for all it's worth. Forget white privilege. I'd rather have black privilege. Nothing is ever your fault. You get to play the victim of your own device and blame it on someone else.

So NASCAR thinks it's "disrespectful" to kneel during the anthem, but totally OK to waive a Confederate flag? The ironic inconsistency of these positions is staggering. Why it's almost as if they are pandering to their overwhelmingly white, southern, lower middle class, largely bigoted fan base.

Bravo to Dale Jr. for saying something intelligent in response to this idiocy.

Nobody is saying these primadonna players do not have the right to protest the anthem. Heck they have the right to do jumping jacks, beat their chests, or lay on the ground, but it doesn't mean that 80%-plus of the country agrees with them and will support their method of protest. The NFL is a business and relies on fans to come to games and buy merchandise. If that slows down, revenue to the owners will decrease, and therefore salaries handed out to these players will decrease, so it's certainly their choice.

Speaking of irony, how ironic that the NFL is ok with these players disrespecting our anthem and flag, yet if they choose to do a celebration dance that doesn't fit exactly what the NFL Commissioner wants, they are fined.

Yes, this makes no sense at all. There is an actual policy stating that players must be on the field during the national anthem, yet I am guessing the NFL will not fine these players who stayed in the locker room. Yet when the Cowboys wanted to honor the fallen cops who lost their life at a Black Lives Matter protest, the NFL said they would fine the Cowboys. This is completely backwards and Roger Goodell needs to be fired.

"Odd, the NFL hated Tim Tebow kneeling."

When? Where? If I remember correctly, it was some of the fans who reacted negatively to it. The NFL took no position and did nothing to indicate they "hated" it.

I can only assume most of the pro-Trump down-voters here are bitter old white guys who live somewhere in middle America and lament their lost jobs in the coal mines or in the steel factory.

The good news for the rest of us is that you dinosaurs are on the way out, and the younger generation sees Trump and his supporters for what they are.

Time is on our side.

Wow, you have once again shown that the Progressive Left claims to own the mantle of being open-minded, yet resort to generalizations when something doesn't go your way. Should I assume that, because you are defending the anti-anthem/flag protesters that you are a snowflake socialist minority that wants to feed off a big government, and would rather spend your time protesting political correctness than working hard at a job to earn money that does not come from the government? No, I should not assume those things, and neither should you about those defending the flag and anthem. Last I checked Trump and Hillary were both in the upper 40%-range in their final vote total, yet over 2/3's of the country does not support what these protesters are doing, so there is an additional 20% of Americans who did not vote for Trump that disapprove of the NFL protesters.

Let me rephrase that - I was a Republican until Sarah Palin showed up and they became the ill-informed, reality TV, science denying party of stupid.

Economically, I'm with them. Socially, I don't recognize them. As much as I can't stand Trump, I'd take him over Pence in a heartbeat (which is why I pray for Donald's continued good health).

Pence and Trump are both way better than what we had from 2009 to January 20, 2017. The number of messes Obama left for Trump are more than I have ever seeing during a transition of power. Obama definitely could give a good speech, but had no idea how to lead his way out of a paper bag.

Regarding science, it's funny hearing some claim this as a result of global warming studies, yet it's the Left that continues to ignore science when it comes to the abortion issue and the ability for life to be sustained after 20 weeks. Elective abortion is the greatest human rights issue of our lifetime, yet we constantly hear how there is a right to terminate the life of the unborn. I don't see how any elected official can still argue against a ban on partial birth abortion.

So it looks a little bit silly to se what a socalled president writes and shouts. Like a dog gone wild. (Ok, the writing would be an achievement if he were a dog.)

If this ?? ?? would not have nuclear weapons we would be ?? all day.
