With A Starting Price Of Only $31,900, Who Is Kia Targeting With The New Stinger?
A model that can trace its roots back to a concept from 2011, the Kia Stinger prepares to go on sale in the United States. The order books will open in December, but pricing is already available as a consequence to the hype surrounding the South Korean automaker’s sportiest car yet. Without further ado, the Stinger 2.0T will set you back $31,900 excluding $895 for the destination.

You want some all-wheel-drive to go together with your 255-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine? Add $2,200, and you’re set! Moving on to the Stinger Premium 2.0T, the superior trim level will set you back $37,000. The most powerful engine, coming in the form of a 365-hp twin-turbo V6, commands a starting price of $39,000 for the Stinger GT trim level.

No - it is clear that they will be targeting people who are looking for a car - and have between $30,000 and 40,000 to spend. They will take the money from anyone who will give it to them initially - and eventually they will discount the car like crazy to get additional sales - just as they always do.

I wouldn't go that far ..the Stinger GT doesn't overlap w/ any current Hyundai or Genesis car...

Is this article really an advertisement for the Kia Stinger?

All I can say to KIA is good luck. Who in their right mind, looking at a MB, BMW or Audi is going to even consider a KIA???

The better reliability would be one consideration in favor of the Kia.
The lower cost of maintenance and repairs out of warranty would be another.
Styling that does not look like a 10-year-old used car like at BMW and Audi would be another.
Superior value is obvious.

Snobs and bigots won't look at a Kia, but to such people, I would say: "Buy a Giulia."

Agreed. And the answer is no one. Ever. It's a laughable notion.

All the top talents from the European car markers have left and went to KIA and Hyundai..
People like Albert Bierman who practically created the BMW M Division with the M3 and M5 engineered the cars performance and handling benchmarking the 4 series grandcoupe.

Peter Shreyer head of Audi design team created then exterior along with Peter chapman and Thomas Burkle head designers from BMW as well as the M divison.

Along with Lamborghini, Bugatti and Bently head design and performance teams such as Alexander Delano and Lux Donkerwolfe.

Cars like the Genesis g80 also used Lotus to tune their cars.

The KIA stinger from most articles call the car a freaking bargin.. this is practically a German engineered car with a KIA badge. The car was rigously tested on Nurburgring raceway and and has a bear 50/50 weight ratio.. BMW blog sites call the Stinger a car with BMW DNA.

Ignore the brand name and see the car what it really is.

I'm with you. So far it looks really well executed. Besides, the typical benchmarks just aren't that interesting anymore.

Motor Trend tested the RWD Stinger GT recently. When Randy Pobst (the test driver) was asked to compare it to the 3 series, Randy said it doesn't drive as well as the 3 series. He also mentioned the Stinger GT was heavy (more than 4,000 lbs.) and could lose about 200 lbs. You get what you paid for.

Randy is such a pedantic ass and he pretty much slags anything that is mainstream and not German.
