Audi Reports A Record 81st Straight Sales Increase In September With A 9.6% Jump
Audi of America reported a September sales increase of 9.6 percent to 19,308 deliveries, as the all-new Q5, the Q7, and the all-new A5 Sportback helped drive consumer demand.

September marked the 81st straight record sales month for Audi of America. The previous September record was set last year with 17,617 deliveries. Through September, Audi has now sold 160,914 vehicles in the U.S. this year, more than any year before 2013. Through September sales have increased 5.7 percent.

Consumer demand for Audi SUVs increased deliveries of the new Q5 to 4,596 and the Q7 to 3,538, with the Q7 rising 43 percent over last year and 22 percent year-to-date. September was the best sales month ever for the Q7. Audi SUV sales overall grew more than 19 percent in September and made up 52 percent of the sales mix. Audi SUV sales have increased 13 percent this year.

The A5 Cabriolet, Coupe and the new Sportback sales more than tripled to 2,360. The A5 Sportback sales totaled 1,203 in September.

Audi sedan deliveries totaled 9,356 for the month, up 1 percent from last year.

“We’re encouraged by the consumer demand for our all-new Q5 and A5 models and we’re looking forward to a strong fourth-quarter finish as we head into 2018,” said Cian O’Brien, chief operating officer, Audi of America.

Very strong results for the Q7, A5 and Q5 both for September and 2017 YTD. This is a great sign for Audi as Q4 is usually its strongest quarter and it has significant momentum heading into the end of the year.

Yep, good results indeed and BMW mustn't be too happy about it.

The A4 sales might seem like it's a failure, but I think that's likely due to the introduction of the A5 Sportback.
I can see people deciding to get the more stylish sportback instead of an A4.
If you look at the yr over yr totals of the A4 and A5.

2017 - 39,209
The larger offerings will have updated versions soon and maybe sales for them will increase. Only time will tell.
Overall though, another good month for Audi.

Any truth to the rumor that Audi is doing in-house sales and then driving them across the border and reselling them in Mexico?

There is big money in exporting cars to Mexico. Traditionally, Mexico has not allowed sales without Mexican production by a brand. Some brands were SOL in Mexico, but one expedient was shipping used models of the brand to Mexico. Audis were highly sought after by VW dealers in key cities. So all that had to be done was to mark those cars sold in the USA and put them on carriers to Mexico. Audi isn't alone in this practice, but given how intent they are in pretending US sales are going gangbusters, this is but one venue to cook numbers. The other is the sales to dealers as courtesy cars that are then put out as CPO.

Of the companies we've retailed, VW/Audi is by far the shadiest. That is why we divested.

My "idea" isn't an idea. It's a reality.

I am VERY much aware of used "new" Audis crossing the border into Mexico. Audi isn't the only one doing it, but they way companies do it is to sell the vehicles to the transport company--so they are sold and count for the numbers--and then buy them back in Mexico.

If Audi was truly making the sales strides they claim, we'd be overrun by Audis and we aren't.

Where are they going?

Connect the dots.
