Impressed Or Depressed? Porsche Mission E Caught In Near Production Bodywork

This is the first sighting of a Porsche Mission E wearing near-production bodywork - and it suggests the final car will look largely unchanged from the concept it is inspired by.

Photographed outside Porsche’s research and development centre in Weissach, on the outskirts of Stuttgart, the car can be seen sporting exhaust tailpipes, but these are fake and fitted to conceal the car's identity.

Kinda looks like what most fans wanted the Panamera to initially look like.

Side note: The mule with the cobbled exterior would make a good candidate for a Cayenne Coupe 4-dr model. Hmmm.....

It all depends. Does a Porsche "driver" want to drive a BEV? Do they want to hear a V8 motor at 7,0000 rpm or fake exhaust sounds pumped through the audio speakers like in a BMW i8? Time will tell.

Porsche "drivers" like it or not, electrication is the future. With many countries around the world already preparing to ban internal combustion engines altogether in the near future, it'd be smart for Porsche to get a head start now.

Correction, "electrication" = electrification.

I have a Porsche, so I guess I'm a "Porsche driver" - and I like BEV just fine, as long as they are designed properly as a driver's car - not a quick fix like many car makers are doing now.

As for the Mission E, I like it and I think VAG is doing it right for Porsche to take the lead on EV development - which will trickle down to Audi and VW later. I have no doubt the Mission E will be a "driver's car".

Size? Price? Supercharger network? Over air updates? Still years behind Tesla. It is easier to copy though.

It looks kinda like a Chinese knock off of a Panamera.

Porsche has built a Mitsubishi sedan. How quaint.
