Awesome Or Awful? Toyota Turns The 86 Into A Hybrid With The GR HV Concept
Toyota is celebrating the online premiere of the all-new GR HV Concept, ahead of its public debut that will take place at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, at the end of the month.

Its name stands for Gazoo Racing (GR), while the HV initials refer to a Hybrid Vehicle, and it's said to have been inspired by both the legendary Supra and the Sports 800 that races in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Blade Runner-esque. Love it.

Pretty okay! The "legs" (wheels) need to be more substantial to look proportionate.

Take the most pointless, underpowered, ill-handing, borderline ugly sports car on the market and make it even uglier. Brilliant.

It's actually a Toyota engineered by Subaru--the AMC of Japan--so it's even worse.

Sounds like it's time for new glasses Darringer - this car looks awesome and you know you'd be all over it if it had a Hyundai badge on it.

Its styling is NOT one that will age well. In fact, it already hasn't. The Subaru engine is a noisy, leaky mess. And it's S-L-O-W. The chassis slides around curves rather than gripping. Did I mention that it's slow? it's overpriced. I honest to God think a base Kia Rio would be faster at the track.

Sorry, but most professional reviews differ.

The GT86 has been slagged in those professional reviews for having all-season tires that make the car slide around curves, for one...

IT is the perfect - what we once called a "chick" car - like a 6 cylinder Mustang. The secretaries will eat it up

Actually, the market demographics on the GT86 variants is that the buyer is likely overwhelmingly to be male, young (import-tuner sperm donors most likely), or 50+ (likely lovely men with lovely husbands for whom a Miata is too cliche).

Too bad the purchaser isn't necessary the driver in a married household, for a student or recent graduate, due to today's purchase experience.
Universal trait for this vehicle driver is desire for fun to drive experience.
