VIDEO: THIS Is Where Hurricane Harvey Flooded Vehicles Go To Die — Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley And MORE!
Easily one of the most treacherous hurricanes the United States has seen in some time, Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc on Texans located in the greater Houston area. After watching the coverage of the ever-surging flood waters, it was completely staggering.

When would it stop?

Eventually, it did and now folks are doing their best to return to a normal existence. I can't even imagine what it must be like.

Enthusiasts of all stripes did their best to make it through the storm. One of my favorite stories was of a BMW owner who jacked up his E36 M3 and also raised his other prized possession to ensure the floodwaters didn't claim them.

Others weren't as lucky. Via Instagram I saw short videos of three- and four-car garages flooded with exotica — literally and figuratively. If you've been wondering just how bad it was, check out the video clip below. It's definitely eye opening.

According to reports, the clip below is from Royal Purple Raceway, which is serving as a location to store flooded vehicles post Harvey. We're assuming this is a designated staging area for insurance purposes.

Que the funeral march...

All the body panels and glass can be reused with no problems.

Undamaged body panels should survive a flood - they survive heavy rains all the time. AS long as the paint was intact - it is unlikely they will have any problems - and few of these panels are steel anymore - most are likely to be either Aluminum or even Carbon Fiber based. So - even a radiator will likely survive well.

THere are lots of other parts that can be salvaged as well. Wheel and tires among them. A good salvage company will make good money on these parts. What cannot be re-used are Upholstered pieces. And as far as electronics - if they took the time to properly clean and restore them - they would be fine as well - but taking the time is what counts here. I have an electronic Musical organ - that was in a flood - and the electronics in the base pedals were in 6 inches of water - but since they were inside the cabinet - they had no physical damage - and cleaning them brought them all back to life. OF course - the question is - who would want those parts - and that is another story (Used car dealers are the likely targets)

So, what really happens to these vehicles as they've obviously been deemed total loses by insurance carriers? Can they be auctioned (as junkers) with legal waivers which prevents the future owners from claiming further damages?

Well, that's why we have insurance.

How about those sad Range Rovers and Bentleys smushed down on their short-circuited air suspensions? Nothing like a storm to drum up some car sales.

Regarding the air suspensions, it would have happened in a few more years anyway, haha.

I see slammed cars with busted air suspensions far too often...

Yes - the collapsed air suspension cars always look so sad.

There is the phase where the air springs start leaking but can get temporarily 'pumped up' when the car is running...then the more catastrophic failure comes a couple of months later and the car is basically dragging on the ground because the owner can't come up with $4,000 to fix the suspension of their late model $15,000 "euro-prestige-sedan/suv".

Like I said, sad.

Being a dealer is another story all together, but if you owned an exotic or similarly valuable car, get it to higher ground. Day trip or get it shipped out to another location. Easily done. Games with insurance policies / car valuations in effect here.
