Mercedes Dashes Our Dreams - The 400HP Mercedes-AMG A45 Is Not Heading To The US
Just when we thought the hot hatch segment, wildly popular for years in Europe, was finally making its way to the US, what’s being dubbed as the world’s most powerful hot hatch will remain forbidden fruit. The 2018 Mercedes-AMG A45, once again, won’t be a part of the US lineup. Buyers instead can opt for its odd-looking four-door coupe sedan counterpart, the CLA 45. But the hatch is where it’s at, and according to Auto Express it’ll produce a wonderfully ridiculous 400+ hp.

So just get the CLAAMG instead.

Exactly! Get the CLA AMG! But most CLA shoppers are buying a CLA to get a MB badge, I doubt they will go for it. If they are going to spend more, they will get a much better quality C-Class.

Just get GLA45.

Exactly. At least you get it. If the hatchback and the GLA were in the same market, in an already-finicky market when it comes to hatches, then it's just redundant. The GLA45 looks better than the A45 anyway.

I will be interested to see if this makes it in to Canada. There have been times in the past where product is brought in here but not in the USA. Usually very compact offerings as well as high performance offerings. Canada is unique in the marketplace as we buy a great many compact cars and we buy more high performance cars as a % of the overall car market than most global markets. AMG and BMW M know this and take advantage of it from time to time.

Yeah, you guys have been getting B class for as long as I can remember and we never had it until very recently. And we only get the tesla powered B250e, which will be discontinued after this year. You guys also get a C class wagon, I don't think we ever had it...
