Is Porsche's New Passport The Way You Are Going To Drive Your Next Sports Car?

Always lusted after that dream sports car, but could never decide on which one? Porsche thinks it might have the answer in the shape of a new subscription service called Porsche Passport that's launching in the United States.

The premise is quite simple. For a monthly payment of $2k, subscribers have access to a range of 8 different Porsche vehicles, such as basic model Macans, Cayennes and 718 variants, all accessed and booked via an app.

I doubt this will be very popular, unless you can sign up for a couple months at a time and then cancel. You can lease, maintain and insure a 911 Turbo for around $3000 a month, so if you have to commit to this program for 2 or 3 years like a lease it simply is not worth it.

No interest here. As much as I love the 911, I'm interested only in a 911 with a very specific configuration (AWD, all the stability goodies, more roadworthy comfort than track-worthy stiffness, a number of cosmetic goodies, etc.)

Therefore, there's no appeal for *ME* to pay to drive a Porsche that I'm not interested in.

That's just me, though. For someone else -- someone who loves the brand and loves variety -- this will be an exciting (though still expensive) opportunity. I believe there will be relatively few takers in this scheme, and it'll eventually be discontinued, while leases and financing will continue to reign.

Super cool concept and the unlimited miles makes the monthly nut worth it imo. I daily a 997.2 and as much as I love the car I can’t help but feel I’m limited. Bring this to LA please!
