Ford Takes A Knee And Loses Sheriff's Department Contract In The Process

A Louisiana sheriff's office is boycotting Ford over the automaker's decision to support NFL players' right to peacefully protest during the national anthem.

Sheriff Julian Whittington of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office said in a letter to the its dealership, Hixson Ford of Alexandria, that it would no longer buy the company's police vehicles.

"Ford has been a part of American history, and has stood for American values," he wrote. "However, the recent events surrounding the NFL, its players and their audacity to thumb their collective noses at the American Flag, the American military as well as their obvious disdain for the profession of law enforcement in general; forces me to take a stand."

Yea, good for Ford, We are going to Send That Orange Baboon In office and his less than smart followers on their way out soon!

Why would some one stand for a flag that had their people build universities, they could not attend, governmental buildings, they were not welcomed in, and now one of the most profitable leagues in the world made up of over 70 percent black players, yet not one black owner

These players and people will stand for the flag when their flag stands for them and their sons when pulled over by an officer, and their college graduates when applying for jobs in corporate america which is seen far too often judging applicants by their name, background, or hue.

You want to talk about the crime rate of the NFL, yet Fail to mention the crime rate and history of this nation against blacks...seriously???

And guess what, every race commits crimes, Hello Las Vegas, Aurora, Sandy Hook, Columbine, Charlottesville, Wall Street, Enron, wells fargo, merrill lynch, AIG, Bank Of America, the latter companies, ran by you know who.. that nearly runined a nation...

I just ask the may fellow Americans recognize that the Flag has not always treated every American the same or equal, have empathy, step outside of your experience and see through another

Ford's police vehicle lineup is so far superior to anyone else's, that Bossier Parish will be back in the Ford fold once the officers start complaining and the municipality has to restock a completely different set of parts (from FCA nonetheless).

Any Ford dealers out there in autospies land care to comment?

Fake news.

I think Ford can take the hit of 6-12 SUV's in the grand scheme of things. Standing up for the first amendment of the US Constitution (trying reading it sometime) is more important than any sale.

@FAQMD - Your knowledge of CDN law is weak to nonexistent. As well there is no place in the US Constitution where it says that the first amendment stops or does not apply, at work, at school or at a place of worship. It was written that way for a reason. Do some research on the topics you post about instead of just being misinformed and ignorant. We get enough of that over the airwaves from your current President.

@FAQMD - You did your research but didn't read any of it. Your articles site instances and situations that run into laws we have on the books regarding HATE speech. These are laws civil societies have. We don't allow people to walk around at night with torches shouting "Jews will not replace us" and "White Power" "Blood and Soil" like you do in the USA. Being charged with hate speech is a $1000 fine in Canada. It should be more. Barring Hate speech is not limiting free speech, it is confronting hate. More work to be done Grasshopper.

Canadian. Who defines hate? The "politically correct" government? Then you aren't free. Freedom of speech as defined in the USA is the freedom for people to say express themselves that make your blood boil.

@Vette - Yes the government on behalf of the people decided that we needed to have a Hate Speech law. Free speech and the right to peaceful protest are great, but your rights as a person stop where mine begin. Say what you like, but if it crosses the line into Hate Speech you will be fined or at least get a visit from our local law enforcement officers aka the police. And 36M people in Canada don't have a problem with that. Pass the poutine...and the Maple syrup. :-)

@Vette71: "Who defines hate?" - that's a surprise question coming from you, a respectable poster on this site.

If you can't tell what hate is, then you're blind to it. Hate comes from within although people tend to use color, race and political affiliation as reason to display their hatred.

While I don't agree with the NFL protests, I think it's disingenuous to use it to further one's agenda like what Trump did, as well as his followers like the local Sheriff Office in this case.

Henry, I object to the government defining what hate speech is, especially in the hyper-partisan politically correct environment we are currently in. Both sides do it and would be better off restraining themselves. Canadians are more comfortable with big government bureaucrats making decisions for them. We aren't. If you want to see our USA free speech in action see "The People versus Larry Flynt". What he did in "Hustler" offends many of us, yet the Supreme Court said he had the right to do it.

@Vette71 -Canadians are actually more comfortable making sure every citizen is protected and looked after. Be they a woman, a indigenous person, a person of colour, disabled or LGBQT. This goes for healthcare as well. And over the years we have adjusted the laws on our books to reflect this fact. And there is still more to do. Canada is not a command and control society like China or Russia. This semi famous rant should give you are better idea of what things are like in Canada.

My name is Joe, and I am Canadian.
Hey, I’m not a lumberjack or a fur trader.
I don’t live in an igloo, or eat blubber, or own a dog sled.
And, I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzie from Canada, although I’m sure they’re real nice.
I have a Prime Minister, not a President.
I speak English and French, not American.
And I pronounce it ‘about,’ not ‘a-boot.’
I can proudly sew my nation’s flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, not policing. Diversity not assimilation.
And, the beaver is a truly noble animal!
And Z is pronounced Zed, not Z. Zed!
Canada is the second largest land mass, the first nation of hockey, and the best part of North America!

Canadian. "Every citizen is looked after". That is the equal outcome, as defined by government, approach. The USA was built on equal opportunity, but also trying to fix things where that equality isn't working. Equal opportunity by definition means unequal outcome. As far as the Canadian healthcare system goes, it does a great job with the routine, but don't get real sick with an expensive to fix condition. Long waits for therapy are a form of rationing that sometimes leading to death (it saves $) as the VA scandal illustrated. But that's what bureaucrats do to control cost. Hence the large number of very ill Canadians coming across the border for speedy USA treatment. Still better than the UK which flat out denies certain treatment beyond certain ages. You are happy with your system. As a risk taker, I'll take ours.

@Vette71. Yes we do try to have an expected outcome for healthcare. Lives count and this is how I think it should be. Quality of healthcare should not be determined by your income or where you live. And yes I am familiar with the "live free or die" mentality emanating from some corners of the USA. We view the government quite differently as you state. As well here is a good video you can watch of a Canadian Dr. dispelling the many myth's that exist about Universal Healthcare in Canada to a congressional panel. Dr's are not leaving the system for the USA, and while a few very rich people seek care in the USA, it is rounding error relative to our population. Not a flood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVX3vm7elHI

I have been to both pro and amateur ball games where "respectful" people solemnly stood up with hands to their hearts looking really good for the camera during the anthem. Some of the same people would turn and booed the opposing teams and their fans like they were true enemies. So much for patriotism on display at the games - it's part of the show.

For those who decry the NFL protests, look in the mirror and ask yourself what you have done for the flag ? Better yet, ask the people who scream the loudest what they have done for the flag and the country - yes I mean Donald Duck and his cronies.

There's a saying "empty vessel makes the most noise" - yeah you are all but an empty vessel, an angry one just like your idol the Orange Baboon. Donald needs constant distraction to deflect attention from his real job. He's got a bunch of braindeads like you to beat the drums for him.

If you think patriotism is all in the image on display, then you're too naive. The example in my post shows that people pretend to be respectful during the anthem, then turn and treat their fellow men like shit. If you think that's patriotism then you do belong there.

So you went to school and have children - the same thing hundreds of million American people do. Most of them don't get angry and don't stay angry. Your daily posts filled with anger and hatred speak for you.

What happened to you ? lost your job ? wife left with your savings ? kids don't visit ? don't get an erection ?

BTW, your references to race and politics are getting tiresome. Try to find some new lines.

OK so the bigot north of the border gets to pronounce whether Jehovah Witnesses are a religion or a cult. So because you disagree with American freedom of religion you call them a cult. Here's the big thing though: you're arrogant enough to think that you have a right to weigh in on issues in a country where you are not a citizen. So not only are you a bigot, but you're an arrogant hypocrite. Isn't your tribe supposed to be about tolerance and the coexist nonsense? Oh wait...only when people do as you say.

My point is (and always will be) NOBODY should care if a NFL or NHL player takes a knee wears a sticker or wears a ribbon (breast cancer, fallen soldiers, the environment) or does both to support a cause they believe in. It is between them and their employer. If there employer is ok with it (and they are) and or they are backed by the 1st Amendment (and they are) if they work in the USA, then get over it. It is sports entertainment. Move onto something far more important. It is a tempest in a teapot at best. Everyone should move on with the knowledge there are lots of law biding Americans who do not support the flag but still make for good neighbours. Good on you @BW5011 Hoo-Ra!

People using a platform to call out injustices of people that don't have that platform isn't race baiting. You will be on the wrong side of history on this one. Have you ever been on a military base and seen people running to get inside before colors are played. Have you ever asked any of these so call patriots, have they ever been to the VA to talk to vets, or helped wounded warriors. What about fighting for our healthcare and benefits we earned but are slow to receive. I'll defend anyone being harassed for kneeling or doing anything else while I'm saluting the flag. Some of you need to grow up and be the patriot that you think you are.
