BMW i8 Roadster: new details revealed

BMW i8 Roadster: new details revealed
We expected to see the BMW i8 Roadster at last month’s 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, but it never made an appearance. So the question on fans’ lips now is when we will actually see the convertible. Rumours are circulating that it might make a debut in just a few weeks, but apparently, a few have already seen it in person.

Online forums like BimmerPost often provide some pretty interesting news, and one of the users mentioned that there was a private showing recently, strongly suggesting that the production i8 Roadster is almost here.

The styling still makes me think of an ill-conceived vision of "The Future." This car already looks dated (to me), and I believe it'll look as ridiculous in a few years as do the 1960's (or 70s's or 80's) "vision of the future" design exercises look now.

The original i8 still looks pretty innovative. It definitely stands out on the road.

Even Clarkson gave it a high-praise. Wish they made an all-electric version.

There is a new black on black on black one in my area. Very Batmobile. Nothing like it really on the road. Not sure if it will hold its value, but it is still great to look at.

I saw a black-on-black i8 in the flesh, too. The best I could say about it is that all the black paint hides the design weirdness that would otherwise be more visible if it were not blacked out. To *my* eyes, i8 looks like a big batch of weird on wheels.

I realize some people like that sort of "New Age" styling, just like some folks like the straight lines, flat surfaces, and "trapezoids everywhere" in late model Lamborghinis. To each their own.

i had the i8 coupe for 4 months this past year and absolutely LOVED it. the attention you get, i swear is like nothing else on the road. doors opening upwards , just a really cool car, fast enough , and 40mpg overall .
definitely a great daily driver if you dont mind all that attention ( it was too much for me so i got rid of it )

iamdabest1: Could you please clarify some things for me and readers?
- Did you OWN an i8 for 4 months (i.e., paying for it, with your own money). If not, how did you come to "have one" for four months?
- You positively LOVED the i8, but after just 4 months, you sold it (or gave it away) JUST because it garnered too much attention?

That sounds like a strange and hard-to-believe story to me. Perhaps it's the stuff of millionaires, and I just can't relate.

if you like, feel free to send me your email address and i can send you MY lease agreement for the 2016 i8.
ive been on autospies for years, and have had a bunch of cars in a short period of time.
its called swapalease my friend. Been using that site since 2005 and its basically created a sickness. i CANNOT finish a lease.

i get into one with the intention of keeping it till the end, but at some point i go crazy and just get rid of them.
after i got rid of the i8, i had a BRAND new 2017 bmw m4 competition package, only to get rid of that after 2 months out of a 36 month lease to get into a porsche boxster S ( good deal )
no im not a millonaire - i just get crazy lease deals and go for it.
the i8 was 998 per month with 3k total out of pocket including the first month 10k miles a year, 24 month lease.
$154,000 msrp.
