China Expected To Produce 1 Million Electric Vehicles In 2018, WAY More By 2025
China’s electric vehicle (EV) production could touch 1 million units next year and 3 million units by 2020, said Xu Heyi, chairman of carmaker BAIC Group, on Wednesday, likely exceeding a government set target.

China is aiming to produce 2 million EVs a year by 2020 and 7 million units five years later, amounting to a fifth of total car production by 2025.

The country produced 424,000 new energy vehicles in the first three quarters of this year, including hybrids, up 40.2 percent compared with the same period of 2016, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers...

...“Rather than the time when gasoline-fuelled cars are withdrawn, it is more important to consider the extent to which new energy vehicles are popularized, or their market share,” Xu said...

BTW, in 2016, China bought about 1/3 of the world's electric cars. They're serious about going electric.

According to number I'm seeing (e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electricity_sector_in_China), China generates about 64.1% of their electricty from burning fossil fuels and bio-mass (e.g., cutting down and burning trees for fuel). That's close to 2/3, and it's nearly identical to the percentage of electricity generated across the US from burning fossil fuels and biomass!

So when we think of China as a horrible polluter (and they are!), we must note our hands aren't clean.

Additionally, while China is moving toward cleaning up its act with tighter pollution regulations (albeit too slowly for some critics), the US is in the process of dismantling the EPA (the agency that's supposed to protect the environment), and easing restrictions and impediments to legally enable industry to pollute MORE. This is allegedly good for business and creates jobs, so it's all good. (Alt.Right-ers: Click the "down arrow" to send Steve to hell).

Typical "forest for the trees" scenario for you, Bob. You miss (avoid? ignore?) the big comparison that the US, nation wide, gets about 2/3 of its electricity from burning stuff. Meanwhile, your disputes with me focus on the dotting of the I's and crossing of the T's. You also dismiss the key point that China is working to reduce pollution, while the US is going in the *opposite* direction, by repealing pollution laws, easing fuel economy regs, enabling industrial pollution, dismantling the EPA, etc.

This is typical of the Alt.Right-ers (such as yourself): Focusing on the minutia that supports their beliefs that everyone else is evil, while ignoring the crap at their own doorstep. Up the stairs, first door to the right... one Tiki-Torch each. March on!

Bob, Bob, Bob… as an Alt.Right-er, you should be warry that in this political climate, people will fact-check you! The very link you provide us (http://www.newgeography.com/content/001682-us-leads-world-greenhouse-gas-reduction) is dated 07/20/2010! That’s about a year and a half into former president Obama’s first term (ya know, the guy you referred to as “The Magic Negro”). Did you intend to give him credit for low pollution? (Of course not! :-) It’s also 7 years out of date.

Yes, BACK THEN, in 2010, the USA was doing well in reducing emissions. Thank you for accurately point that out! However, as you try to obfuscate the facts, the CURRENT ADMINISTRATION, under President Trump, is undoing this Made in USA goodness and proud achievements. The current administration has already cut the budget and is dismantling the EPA (ya know, the guys and gals that used to protect out environment). This administration is easing or eliminating laws that now enable industry to pollute more freely. They are rolling back fuel economy standards in vehicles. They’ve eliminated the science budged to research climate change because, as the prez says, climate change doesn’t exist; it’s a hoax invented by the Chinese (don’t trust 97% of scientists, the guys who can predict solar eclipses; trust the politicians who tell you science is Fake News!)

So yes, what I said is true. China is working on cleaning up their act (while they are still immensely horrible polluters today), while the USA, under the current administration, is heading in the opposite direction and enabling industry to pollute more. Re-read this paragraph over and over until you can appreciate its gravity. I am *NOT* saying “the US pollutes more than China.” I am saying they’re heading in opposite directions with respect to their intent towards pollution. China is in deep pollution sh*t, and they know it, and possibly out of desperation, they’re working to change that the better. In the US, the current administration is focused on more profit for the enterprises and the fabulously wealthy, so the environment and the wellbeing of The People is taking a back seat.

By the way – Mister venom, hate and rage – I don’t think you are stupid. But in typical Alt-Right fashion, you bluster big, embrace and spout your own beliefs (a la Kellyanne Conway), while dodging the hard facts that you wish didn’t exist. Thank goodness for fact checking! Alt-Right-ers, such as yourself, are never short of hate and violence (your posts provide excellent examples, thank you), but whenever they are fact-checked, they sure do come across like a bunch of hateful Nazi dolts.

Up the stairs, first door to the right, one Tiki-Torch each. March on, BobM. Hate and bluster away.
