Act FAST! A 2008 BMW M5 With A MANUAL Is Up For Grabs — 2 Days Left!
If you were to ask me what was one of the worst BMW designs to ever make it to production, I think I'd be torn. That's because the E65 7-Series and E60 5-Series are tied for first place in that dumpster fire of a competition.

But the more I look at it, I think the 5'er takes the cake.

From the exterior to the interior, it's just hot garbage. Everything from the wheels to the center stack to the centrally located headrest in the rear seat, it's just awful. I feel like it's a mix of late 2000s and the 1980s.

If that's your thing, however, perhaps we've got a listing you've got to see. It's a 2008 BMW M5 with 84,000 miles on the odometer. Although many would say this vehicle is special due to its 5.0-liter V10 powerplant, I think it's actually due to the 6-speed manual transmission of which few were made.

Don't expect this one to be a collector's item though. I just don't see it happening. However, if you want to have fun with a V10 and give it a good home before it kicks the bucket, this very well may be your chance. Two more days left in the bidding at the time of this writing, so, act fast!

...This 2008 BMW M5 is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and finished in Monaco Blue. It is powered by a 5.0-liter S85 V10, which was a short-stroke, high-revving engine developed for the M5 and the contemporary M6. This unmodified example was originally sold in New Jersey and located in Indiana before it was acquired by the selling dealer in February 2017 and moved to Oregon. A new power steering pump and belt have since been fitted along with a new radiator hose clamp and A/C drive belt. This E60 M5 is now being offered with a clean Carfax, service records for the recent work, and a clean Indiana title...

The V10 was a great engine. I happen to like the "Godzilla" faced 5 Series.

Explain a NEW Radiator hose clamp to me - at those miles I would expect the Hose to be replaced TOO. AN A/c drive belt is a trigger for a failing AC compressor too. I am not optimistic that this car has anything left. To be a driver - it would require Struts - and shocks - at least. THe car was not great to begin with - although the engine might have been - depending on how this car was driven. But - I have found that such cars are spent by the time they have those miles and need a lot of tender loving care (read that repair$$$) to bring them back to a good level. For what? THERE is no advantage of being seen in that car - it is simply too invisible.

@TomM Indeed the only reason to buy this car would be because it's highly collectible and that certainly is NOT the case with this one. Then you factor in the major reliability issues that BMWs of this generation had and it become an even greater "no go". The bid is up to $15K and therefore not worth the risk. For 10K, I'd buy it as a beater.

Nice! That era of BMW's were very responsive-driving cars. I think it was the last gen with non-electric steering - they had excellent steering feel and responsiveness. Great vehicles.

Yup, one of the last with the hydraulic steering setup.

This is why I tried to find a 1M for so long but, eventually, life moves on.

I hear you. It's not brilliant but at least it is functional.

As a BMW service advisor, i happeb to think the E60 m5. The interior actually wears very well too. Though i will admit, its not the prettiest 5, i wouldnt kick it out of my garage. Even though the manual is a rare bird, i think there are about 7-10 of them on autotrader as we speak so to say its your ”last chance” is a little of an over exaggeration.

Changing the subject completely, and I really do not come here for politics but just for auto news and opinion but i have to ask, why is this article tag linked with #TRUMP. I mean i just have to ask.... what the hell does Trump have to do with a V10 M5?
