TOKYO MOTOR SHOW: Mazda Previews Next Generatin Mazda 3 With Sexy KAI Concept

The Mazda KAI Concept has been styled to be built, according to the company’s European design chief.

If you're idea of sexy is a Kardashian ass, then yes this is sexy. It's great looking until you get to the completely unresolved hindquarters that look like they forgot to finish the design. Dumbed down for production this will be a modern interpretation of a Daewoo Lanos.

Another hit design from Mazda that will not translate into more sales. Among the many things going well for this is that it is undeniably Mazda -in and out.

I think this is gorgeous but like the above comment states, mazda somehow is struggling in sales. Imho, Mazda’s whole product line is quality and are pretty attractive but their sales seem to be lackluster compared to the other Japanese manufacturers including Subaru!

Mazda has always been the most Japanese of Japanese automakers, meaning they practice the classic Japanese attitude and aesthetic of simplicity of form and harmony. They celebrate their Japanese point of view while the other Japanese brands others seem to try to be more global in design. They've always been an underdog but they have a definite style and philosophy and most things like that tend to exist in a niche where the customer base is smaller but fiercely loyal.

Mdarringer takes another negative swipe! I think the rear 3/4 is very well-resolved. This is a sophisticated looking design. Do you think the CX9 is "dumbed down for production."

If you have the best ideas why aren't you running an auto company?
