Lexus President Dreams Of A LFA Successor - What Would You Change?
Lexus president Yoshihiro Sawa has refused to rule out launching a spiritual successor to the LFA supercar but says that, for now, such a project remains “just a dream”.

Production of the LFA was limited to 500 units and the model went off sale in 2012. Powered by a 4.8-litre 552bhp V10, it covered 0-62mph in 3.6sec and hit a top speed of 202mph.

While it remains a supercar icon, with its reputation and used asking prices on the increase, Lexus insiders have previously suggested that cars such as the striking LC coupé do more to change perceptions of the brand by being more affordable for aspirational buyers.

I think the sale results of the LFA clearly showed there was no market for this car. They struggled to sell 500 cars. I think that Honda and the new NSX are struggling in a way as well. I don't know the volume of GTR's sold, but doubt it is significant and likely far, far lower than Corvette numbers. Without a history of sports cars that have been loved by millions for decades, it is a tough sell as there are just too many other compelling choices. I would not build a follow up to this car.

This and the NSX suffer from one thing... Branding.. They need to lower the price and build a car that tops out at $75k for Acura and $100 for Lexus. And since they have that LC500 now, maybe they should just kill the LFA. I don't think the LC500 will sell well either. Toyota and Honda will have to come up with another brand to sell cars priced like that. They can't compete with the Germans or anybody else in that $150k plus lane.

I'd make it a 911 competitor in size and price, but stay on the value end. The LFA did NOTHING for Lexus because there was a massive gulf between it and the rest of the line in price, styling, and philosophy. The LFA was masturbation and nothing more.
