#SEMA2017 Tell Us Why Hipster Millennials Are So In Love With Vintage Rides That Honestly Drive Like Crap?
It may have not been the main theme of the #SEMA2017 show but it was sure up there...What trend do you ask? We're talking about the hipster millennial craze to own vintage vehicles like pickup trucks from your Dad's youth.

As we walked around the SEMA show floor the vehicles getting the most oo's and ah's were not the NEW products but those rare dodo birds like say a Chevy Highlander 50 Pickup.

Don't get us wrong...Those products LOOK amazing and evoke emotion but God forbid if you ever own one and use it as a daily driver. TURN YOUR WATCHES BACK 50 YEARS.

And they cost a fortune to buy on the used market! Probably DOUBLE what they cost 24 months ago.

So our question to you is WHAT is the fascination with these dinosaurs and WHY are they so hot right now?

Let's lift up a Craft IPA (not while driving!), take our socks off and stroke our beard and discuss the answer in the comments below...

The 2017 SEMA photo galleries are sponsored by Lexus. We have almost 1000 photos from the show don't miss the best shots of SEMA on earth!

Old vehicles don't necessarily drive like crap. SEMA is full of restomod hardware that makes a huge difference in older cars.

I may have to drive to Interceptor tomorrow.

A lot of these old vehicles only look old. Some of them can outrun a Ferrari.

Choosing an old vehicle is often a need - since todays cars are so expensive for many people. Transportation is something many people would not have jobs without. Having said that - why is it inherently different to choose between different makes and models - and choose between AGE? MANY older cars have the same basic equipment as todays cars - wheels. tires, engine, transmissions, seats - steering wheels - older cars even have accelerator and brake pedals - as well. THEY go forward and in reverse - and many are really cheap to fix as well.

If you want to be seen - I would suggest a 1959 Cadillac El-Dorado Convertible would be "remembered" having been seen - than any BMW made today. A well conserved classic vehicle will always stand out. ANd if it is not as well conserved - it will still do that as well. For my kids - when they reached age - we picked out a car to "build" = worked an engine - rebuilt the trans - new upholstery - sometimes new paint - even a more modern radio. ANd with only one or two vacuum hoses and no computer - they were easy to work on. If something did go wrong -you do not need advanced college degrees to fix them as well.

WE throw out a lot of good cars - simply because they have "too much mileage" that can easily go another 100,000 with a little loving care. I may no longer have to buy older cars and fix them anymore - but I actually miss those days.

Good question...I certainly have my theories which I'm confident are correct but I always like hearing others opinions and I respect my audience enough to know they may know things I don't. That's how you learn and improve. By the constant pursuit of perfection. Oh, wait, that's how you make a Lexus. ;)

Could it be that snowflakes prefer looks and appearances over substance?

I'm pretty sure it's not just hipsters that have been appreciating classic automobiles.
