The GREAT Debate: IF The M3/M4 CS Costs Six Figures, Are They WORTH It?

The GREAT Debate: IF The M3/M4 CS Costs Six Figures, Are They WORTH It?
Earlier this week, we're pretty sure that Bimmerphiles were excited to hear that the BMW M3 was gaining yet another variant. Dubbed the CS, the M3 CS was announced to great fan fare.

This joins the M4 CS, which was announced this past spring.

Weighing about 110 pounds less than the standard sibling, that's not all as the M3 CS gains more power and some more accoutrements on the inside. Boasting a more aggressive look, more power and a special diet, it's the closest you can get to the M4 GTS without the silly water injection system and punishing ride.

It actually sounds like a deal.

But is it? Although pricing of the M3 CS has yet to be announced, initially we heard that the M4 CS would fetch nearly 117,000 EUR. That's around $136,000 USD if you do a straight conversion; however, automotive pricing doesn't work quite as such due to the tax differences between the EU and US.

So, I've got to ask simply: IF the BMW M3 and M4 CS variants cost six figures would they be worth it?

Totally agree. Reducing the price of these special editions would reduce the appeal to those who can afford them.

$100K for a 3 Series is asinine. At $136K, it's $75K overpriced.

These kind of cars are insanely stupid. It's a $35k car (base price) with $100k of upgrades. Would you buy a Honda Civic and spend $100k upgrading it?

Much better to buy a car with a higher base price and very few upgrades.

They will sell all of them and most dealers will get over MSRP.

And then they will depreciate like a sinking boulder.

If buyers are willing to pay, and they sell all inventory, then, that is what determines if the cars are worth the price. Personally, I think it's an insane price and there isn't much separation between the M3/M4 with Competition Package and the CS to justify this price hike.

If BMW are aiming to save on weight then why does it have a CD player, powered heated seats, other niceties?

No, they are not even close to worth it. You can get a much better car for that price range.
