SPIED: The All-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class AND CLA-Class Get EXPOSED In A BIG Way — All-new Snaps HERE!
Arguably the car that started it all, the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is a vehicle that reminded luxury automakers that they could sell vehicles for less than $30,000. And they could sell an assload of them.

Although vehicles like the BMW 318Ti and Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor made it to The States, they didn't exactly fly off dealer lots. More or less, both were flops.

The CLA, however, was the must-have vehicle when it first debuted. While the CLA took a lot of heat from critics, it seems as though buyers can't get enough of them. And the news keeps on getting good for the three-pointed star: Leasees of the CLA seem to be trading up for the C-Class as their incomes and families grow.

Now that the current-gen CLA and A-Class are a bit old, its time for the all-new, second-gen car. While I've posted a thread or two showing the mules undergoing research and development, we've got an all-new set of spy shots on our hands.

Showing two vehicles painted a matte orange — I am guessing for crash test purposes — we're now seeing the A-Class and upcoming CLA-Class fully exposed. Need I really say more?

Again, I don't believe this is the next CLA. The "CL" is used by Mercedes for their 4-door coupe line. This is the A-Class sedan.

This is what the new E Class should have looked like...instead of the boring C Class clone (clown) that it is now!.

You wanted the E Class to be generic looking?

Front end seems like it was beat with an ugly stick. Step backwards IMHO.

"... the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is a vehicle that reminded luxury automakers that they could sell vehicles for less than $30,000."

Except that nowhere in America was there a dealer selling the CLA for "less than $30,000"

Lowest actual price was closer to $33,000. The $29,995 price point was just a marketing ploy to get attention.

And it worked beautifully.

The problem for Mercedes is that the CLA--by virtue of its donor car underneath--had all sorts of issues that Mercedes has to cheerfully repair and repair to keep the issues from blowing up in its face.
