2019 Mercedes G-Class Dash Surfaces - Is This A Step In The Right Direction?
A series of photos showing the new dashboard of the 2019 G-Class before the official reveal went online, revealing what’s changed.

If you followed our previous scoops on the new G-Class, then the changes should come as no surprise. The new dashboard does a good job at integrating Mercedes’ latest wide-display tech without altering too much the character of the interior which doesn’t try to hide its utilitarian roots as displayed by the grab handle in front of the passenger and its sober lines.

I can only hope that, like the E-Class, that analog instrument cluster is only on the base model and full digitial is an upgradeable option. Those three buttons in the middle of the center stack keep making me think it's a slot machine display.

It is certainly a step up from the current G-Wagon with the tacked on display screen. Considering the price of this SUV I am guessing that the metal is metal and the wood is wood jut like in an Aston Martin or a Bentley. But time will tell. I think the windows are shorter in height in this new model from the spy photos I have seen. Considering how strong the old model's sales wereeven with its poor street ride, I would not have felt compelled to update this model. Change the dash maybe but leave the rest and profit handsomely from it.

It's a strange combination of 1970s and modern. Maybe Mitsubishi was put in charge now that they are a part of the Mercedes swirl.

Slapping a new dash in a 40 years (or older) military designed bread box is the answer. Merc should be good to go for another 40 years now before a refresh...

Aha..but you all have missed the hidden button that silently motors the steering wheel out of the way and then flips the large glass display to a perfectly level, horizontal position which then enables the driver, front seat passenger, and their friends, to snort lines of 'drugs' on the perfectly flat display.

The new G-Class will also be Mercedes first, Level 5 fully autonomous self-driving vehicle, so the occupants can use all sorts of 'drugs' while driving along in perfect, Mercedes-Benz, 'best or nothing' safety.

Just a bunch of existing parts S steering wheel, E instruments/nav screen, C/E switches, and E coupe air vents which I like a lot on the E coupe but not so much in this... I was expecting more for a G wagon.
