SPY PHOTOS: Audi A5 Coupe
Audi is developing an all new model with a prototype which can be seen on these photos during high speed testing in heavy rain at Germany’s race track Nürburgring. Dubbed “A5” (code AU 474/475) the new Audi will be a sporty coupe-convertible adapting the design of Audi’s concept car Nuvolari. The showcar was on display at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003. The prototype photos show that the new CC will be considerably larger than the current A4, almost the size of today’s A6.

With the A5 Audi intends to be a step ahead of the strong A4 competitors such as BMW 3-series Cabrio, Mercedes CLK and the VW-Convertible Eos. Due to the bigger size, Audi is indeed about to fill a gap on the sporty CC-market. Neither the BMW 5-series, Mercedes E Class model ranges nor any other car maker in this class and size has a luxury coupe-convertible to offer.

I would possibly consider driving an Audi if they make this. Audi needs a coupe other than the prissy TT to appeal to the coupe lovers market..but it would have to have RWD.

it won't have strickly RWD. It will have a Rear bias AWD. (40/60); the car will be available State side in Fall 07.

The RS5, or even the "lowly" S5 will be pretty sweet.

Since when will it be a CC? I thought Audi was sticking to ragtops?

make it look like the nuvolari...that was such a beautiful car, oh and audi, please bring back the flared fenders that made your last gen a6 4.2 so look so much more badass than the current model

In fact, this new car will be the real-world version of the Nuvolari showcar.

And it will be gorgeous. Can't wait!

looks too vanilla. But then again so do all of these cars from audi.

I love comments and critics based on a completely camouflaged car..LOL...

So does the new X5. Nice, but not revolutionary enough.

You're one of those die-hard BMW fanboys, as well as Lexus/Audi haters, because they actually pose a possible threat besides Mercedes-Benz.

Looks great already. Sure to be another great looking car from Audi.

Great lines. I read a while back in a review that "when BMW and Mercedes zig, Audi zags... and usually for the better." I'ld have to agree with them here. I hope it stays uncluttered, or as some people say vanilla. It's a nice alternative to all of those creases. Think it might show up at the LA Show?

LOL! Does anyone else notice these ads?

Well, most sites want to make money, this one as well. I have also read that some Audi concept will debut at teh LA autoshow.

No, no, read the ad! The link says "Looking for an Audi S4?" while the actual website is porscheusa.com.

Definitly has the hints of the Nuvolari concept, I hope they stay true to it, so it can be my next car.

Is it me or is the stance a little high on that car, and the Quad exhaust makes me wonder if it is an S- model.

It is just a prototype. Used to test things like ride height.

i question the audi's press releases 1. they say neither bmw or mercedes or any rival has a 5 series, e class coupe or convertible?? has audi ever seen a 6 series, or XK they are around 190 inches long same size as a mid sized e-class. what audi means is that we can't afford to build 2 coupes so we will just make one, hype it up like it is something special, when it is just the replacement of the A4 droptop.

Have you heard of the A7?

Actually, Audi is correct. CC has meant folding hardtop, and Audi is correct in stating that no other manufcaturer has that in the size above the A4 and below the A6.

Audi coupe a hard top convertble, just weeks ago audi ceo Winterkorn said the audi a4 will have a cloth top for performance purposes. i can google the quote and post it. Now it's a CC, the audi management group spend to much time kissing BMW ass. Chewy have i ever heard of A7 you mean the picture of future wannabe 2011 CLS.

No, it clearly states in the article that it will be standard with a traditional cloth top.

CC is just an error on the writer's part.

And IMHO it's BMW kissing Mercedes's ass with the hardtop trend.

BMW wants a wannabe CLS, a wannabe R-Class, a wannabe SLR, and a wannabe SL.

Believe me, the last thing Audi wants to do is pretend to be BMW.

Larry ever hear of the Lexus two seat mid-engined supercar in the works, or the BMW M10, or the Mercedes-Benz project regarding the production of a mid-engined roadster that is more sport oriented than the SL?

Gee I wonder who in the world they could be copying. Tell BMW and Merceds-Benz to stop KISSING AUDI ASS.

The recent proliferation of Audi models is exciting, I just hope they don't spread themselves too thin. That's exactly what's gotten Mercedes in trouble lately.

Don't worry, they won't have five SUVs and a minivan in five years like Mercedes.

They will have, however, two SUVs, three sedans, two hatchbacks, two coupes, two convertibles, and a four-door coupe. (and the Avant variants of the sedans, except A8)
