#LAAUTOSHOW: TEASED! Is Toyota's All-new FT-AC Potentially The Show Stealer For La La Land?
Toyota has released an all-new image of a vehicle it's bringing along to the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show (LAAS). While it is quite dark with only a slew of lights visible, we can tell one thing:

It's going to be some sort of badass pick-up truck or sport-utility vehicle.

As these are all the fashion these days, we're pretty excited to see what Toyota has up its sleeve. Given the FT-AC nomenclature, we're thinking it's a concept version of a next-gen, FJ-type vehicle that's been awaiting a replacement since 2014.

While the front grille is completely blacked out, I have to say the rest of what is visible reminds me of a more purposeful design with squared off edges. I am seeing a little Range Rover here, and it's not a bad thing. Granted, there's a whole lot more to see.

I swear if Toyota ruins this by placing a peculiar front end on it a la the all-new Camry, it will be a huge let down.

That said, any initial thoughts, Spies? Could this potentially be the vehicle of the LA Auto Show?

The 4Runner is due for replacement. Without the FT-AC name it could be anything. Remember FT-1 was the Supra concept. It just means Future Toyota perhaps. FT-AC Future Toyota All Conditions.

I would love for this to be an FJ replacement.

Why replace the FJ? It was a complete market failure. Its sales were horrible and it drank gas like a 70s Suburban.

I am sorry - but a new TOYOTA is simply not my idea of something exciting
Maybe it is to the older generations who actually buy them - but even many who are from the generations - reliability simply fails to overcome the incredibly POOR styling and most often only acceptable performance. Yes - they sell well - as many appliances do - since that is all they are. BUT if having a high line car to be SEEN in is at least a desire - I cannot imagine actually buying a Toyota for that. And I still do not travel roads that are covered with Live Stock that require a cow catcher front that the Lexus has.

People will argue that the Supra was not that type of vehicle. It has been a long time between desired Supra's - but at the likely price of one today - there are lots of more desirable cars on the road. ANd if you really want to be seen in an SUV - buy and restore a Hummer - they still have it!

The roof lights make it appear to be the FJ follow-on. Though a limited market, it has a rock star following. Especially if it is production ready, it will be the star SUV for the auto show season.
