Lost In The Hype: Tesla Shows A Glimpse Of An Electric Pickup Concept
Between the unveiling of the Tesla Semi and the new Roadster, it’s almost easy to forget that Tesla also showed the first image of an electric pickup truck, which is based on the semi truck architecture.

The vehicle is so ridiculous that it almost sounds like a joke, which is actually not usual when it comes to Elon Musk’s announcements.

Musk has been talking about making a Tesla pickup truck for a while now, but it was never clear where the vehicle would fit on Tesla’s product timeline.

Actually - for TESLA - a Sketch is a true concept.
THey don't bother with things like making them Volume producible until they promise delivery - and fail several times.

Using just the chassis and with smaller wheels, you could likely put a Super Duty cab and bed on it. Dually model as well. 5th wheel too. Who knows what might lay in store if Tesla can get Model 3's out the door in decent numbers. One step at a time.

This might work for an industrial truck, something to take on a Ford F650. If Tesla makes this, I really hope they don't sell them to consumers. I can only imagine what stupid things people would do with a truck this large that has so much power.

Looks similar in size to a Ram 3500 HD.

If Tesla wants to try an electric pickup, they should start with the Ridgeline or Canyon sizes first. Get the general/casual users to sign-up & drive them around town. Then add updates for stronger towing grunt later.

That would be ideal, but since they already did the semi they can re-use a lot of what was already done versus creating something from scratch. Don't think any other platform they have would work well for a truck.
