Actually, the LX470 is pretty obviously a re-badged Land Cruiser. If you haven't figured that out, I pity you.

If Car and Driver tests the GL, Q7 and the new LX for example, you can be sure that the LX will be DEAD LAST. Car and Driver is sports biased after all.

That's my issue with some car magazines. Too sports biased. Not objective enough on the values the majority of people consider.

Well, #1, the GL and Q7 are currently $30K less and $20K less than the LX, respectively. They're in a class of their own- they're the same size, similar prices for 4.2 vs. GL450, and are luxury sports SUVs. Arguably, the LR3 and GX470 are in the same class, but it's unfair to compare the ungainly GX to those other three.

The LX is luxurious, but not satisfying to drive. It has a laughably underpowered 4.7L 270hp V8 (formerly 240hp) that makes even GM pushrod engines look good.

Either R&T or C&D kept commenting on how "gorgeous" the Q7 was, and in a five-way comparison, the Q7 came in 2nd, only behind the GL, because the GL was more versatile (but the Q7 was more car-like in the way it drove). I can't see them saying how "gorgeous" or how "fun to drive" the next-gen LX is.

Rear lamps are exactly the same. But becase they too are partly covered, it's not just the rear end of the current model grafted onto the new one- it's really the new one. (Disappointment)

A) Lexus can't kill, they are a passive company.
B) Why say something and then contradict yourself? It's like Monty Pythin's Holy Grail right before the guy is catapulted into the gorge.

You stated the Lexus does not rebadged anymore EXCEPT for this year's LX. You should have stated that this Year'sLX will be the last rebadged vehicle from Lexus. Which I doubt to be true and we will find out in years to come. Also, go rent Monty Python's The Holy Grail and you will understand.

there are plenty of lexus models based off of 'new' toyota models. for instance...ALL of their SUV's, and the ES.

I would think that Lexus would forever use Toyota platforms for its trucks. I'm not bashing Lexus-- it's just a smarter business move than developing SUVs for itself, because Toyota SUVs are very good.

When are they going to redesign the Highlander? The RX is 1.5 generations ahead of it. It really needs it.

Although I don't particularly like Car And Driver either, they do tend to favor off road performance more than on road performance with off road vehicles. So the New LX and the new Land Cruiser may stand a chance.

They do? I am unware of that since the last time I read a Car and Driver 4x4 review, they seemed more interested in 0-60 times and cornering abilities. :(

Yes, but it still has a bit of off-road gear, and has been videotaped actually off-roading. It's also slightly heavier than the Touareg and lighter than the Cayenne.

Land Cruiser is a great car, although in the Middle East they have a car, "Nissan Patrol" which is equally amazing..The Land Cruiser is seriously untouchable, and this is coming from a German car nut..

I'd rather buy a Buick Lucerne than this Land Cruiser.

Save money too and invest it in some stock.

Forget the Lucerne and get a Hyundai Azera. You'll save a lot more money.
