The Order Line Has ALREADY Started For Tesla's New Semi Truck

Tesla shares jumped Friday after J.B. Hunt Transport Services announced it has reserved "multiple" new electric semis just unveiled by Elon Musk.

Tesla shares traded more than 4.5 percent higher, at $327, in the premarket.

"We believe electric trucks will be most beneficial on local and dray routes, and we look forward to utilizing this new, sustainable technology," John Roberts, president and chief executive officer at J.B. Hunt, said in a statement.

Keep in mind, that Tesla has a stack of around 400,000 Model 3 orders. They're struggling to get those orders converted into sales in numbers that are better than a mere trickle each month.

"Order" = *Intention* to buy, with a small, refundable deposit, and the ability to change your mind.

"Sale" = Transferring ownership of a finished vehicle to the customer.

These two are very different!

They are different but not so much in this case. If people haven't cancelled their orders by now, it would take a major negative surprise to cause them to cancel now.

Ha ha ha haaaaa. A Tesla semi? Will it have leather seats?
Tesla cannot even produce their cars properly and at necessary numbers and now they are going to produce semi trucks based on their vast knowledge of trucks.

WTF is the deal with this forum? You'd think people who visit a site like this would be interested in seeing cool new concept cars and trucks, yet the forum craps all over anything new and innovative and seems to be rooting for the return of the steam engine.

@carlos - Don't worry about the haters. TESLA has coming up and taken a huge chunk of the luxury sedan market. They will do so in the near premium market with the Model 3 when production has ramped up. People who hate are just jealous. GM/VW/Toyota could have all done this but they chosen not to. It is a very brash and very American thing to do what Elon Musk has done against all odds.

Saying Tesla has a monopoly is like saying Ford has a monopoly on selling Ford cars. Competition from other car companies is what will keep negative pressure on their car prices.

A true monopoly puts upwards pressure on price and is negative for consumers, but I don't think this is a true monopoly. There are dramatic cost savings in cutting out the middleman and Tesla can only price their products at what the market is willing to pay. Same situations with almost any other product (Apple is a good example). If 100% of cars were Teslas, then it would be a different story.
