Performance Dead? Chevrolet Throws $9000 On The Hood Of The 2017 Corvette Z06
Despite the recent unveiling of the new Corvette ZR1, Chevrolet is having difficulty selling its seventh-generation Corvette. How much difficulty, exactly? According to MSN Money, only 1,345 Corvettes were sold in October. That's a 49 percent drop from the previous October. Overall, sales are off by a troubling 20 percent for the first ten months of 2017, and the year is quickly coming to an end. What to do? Discounts. Even the Corvette Z06 is being discounted.

Instead of going to a mid-engined Corvette, I'd take the Corvette down market and make it much more attainable.

Take a look at the sales of sports cars. They're all getting hammered. Trucks and SUV's are what the buying world wants.

If the Corvette had $40K base model, it's sales would go way up. I honestly think that the mid-engined Corvette will be what kills the Corvette.

Sports cars like this are toys. Rewards for success. Spending your money on these sorts of things really depends not only on the funds but how you feel about the future. If things seem uncertain to you and you are not comfortable then you won't buy. It is not like there isn't enough people in the USA to buy 30k cars a year. The C7 is a great car and sales really should not be off as much as they are. I would certainly make up excuses to go for a drive if I had one. Back when I was a kid and bought my house at 29 I was afraid if I got one with a 2 car garage I would have 2 cars. A bit spendy for a single guy and a dog. I bought one instead with a garage and a half, about 15ft wide. Enough for your car and lot of stuff on each side.

If you read the mainstream reviews (CD, MT, RT) there have been some well-documented quality problems.

Its a great machine when its running well.

It performs but it is hideous...especially from the back end.

And new school cannot do anything beyond acceleration.
