Chevrolet offers big discount for Corvette Z06 amid disappointing sales
Even as Chevrolet is making a huge splash in the industry with the recent launch of the new Corvette ZR1, there may be trouble brewing. Chevrolet has announced huge discounts on its 7th generation Corvette, particularly the Z06. Why is this so? We’re thinking that this might have been brought on by the brand’s 20% overall sales drop in the first ten months of 2017.

Chevrolet has only delivered a total of 1,345 Corvettes this October, a 49% drop compared to the same month last year. Sales have been really bad since January up to October of 2017 as the company has only sold 20,236 units against 25,345 units sold last year. The less than stellar figures majorly contributed to this year’s 20% sales decline.

I may have to revisit getting a Z06. I have absolutely flogged two and nothing broke. With my luck, I'd be the "lucky" owner.

@MD - I was thinking the very same thing. With so much money on the hood and a likely December deal to sell any Z06 on the lot... it may be worth revisiting...

The store here hasn't had trouble selling Z06s, but if there is a glut.. I'm definitely going to see what price I can one for. I don't pay attention to Corvette sales because pickups and SUVs are the money.

With the introduction of the ZR 1 - - you would expect that the now no longer highest level Corvette would lose sales

And the rampant rumors of a mid-engine Zora coming soon - would naturally set people waiting for it as well.

However - all of above are likely to be in the rarified price category - and while low numbers of produced cars do not add up - their profit does.

THe problem with the ZO6 is that there are Mustangs and Camaros that come close for less money - PLUS the fact the right now - the FCA TUrbo-Hemi engine rules the street.

Actually - I would like a comment from you MATT - on the phaseout of deductions for FLOOR PLAN INTEREST that is part of the republican Tax Plan right now.

I suspect that IF they actually go through with that - the value of car dealerships will PLUMMET - and car prices will have to go up quite a bit.

And yes Matt - I did misspeak - the Hellcat engine is Supercharged - not Turbo

@TomM You're not interested in a discussion about dealerships. You want to pick a political fight.

No Matt- I simply point out that when floor planing (And that is used for LOTS of industries - not just AUTO) costs are not deductible - that car prices are going to go up - and dealerships will LOSE value.

Not being a democrat or a repulican - and YOU should know that - I have stated it here many times over the years - Politically means nothing to me - I am not an AUTO dealer.

@TomM You are 100% a Liberal and your statements show that.

To pretend that you're a centrist is laughable.

If you were a centrist, you would not be bashing Trump 24-7 as you do.

As I understand it from discussions, the GOP plan LOWERS taxes on businesses which is a win.

You should also know that the finance interest that you claim is not deductible IS most decidedly deductible in the latest version of the proposal.

I simply choose not to get riled up over theoretical threats like you routinely do.

The GOP proposal is VERY beneficial to businesses and actually reverses the we-hate-business stance of the previous regime.

That said, to have an opinion about a tax code that has not been implemented when you are not a tax expert, nor on the ground with legislators, nor knowledgeable as to how the retail auto business works is just idiocy.

Bankrupting dealers would be illogical to this administration.
