The current auto industry is dynamic, fluid, exciting and threatened. Great vehicles and drama lie ahead. The Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times!" is in full play with billions at stake. Fortune may favor the bold but
there will be plenty of blood shed before it all shakes out.

While you post is true to an extent - I still do not accept that this is going to change as rapidly as some are saying. The infrastructure for Electric cars simply does not exist = nor does the electric generation capacity. That will take time to rectify.

ANd the OIL industry is not a small force - it still is a leading employer in most countries - and if you were to eliminate most of it - AND most of the current car industry (Automation will do a lot) employment - you do not have to worry about a quick change - it will create a world wide depression and elimination of a huge middle class. Without people to buy the cars - the old ones will have to do for longer.

Big miss on Toyota's part to go it alone and not integrate smartphone technology like CarPlay and Android Auto. While I was a loyal Toyota and Lexus buyer in the past I have moved on to other car companies that integrate these tech features.
