Where NEXT? Uber Gets Banned In Isreal

Uber has been banned in Israel, according to reports from local news sites Haaretz and The Jerusalem Post.

A Tel Aviv judge reportedly said on Monday that the company does not have the appropriate insurance in place to operate in Israel.

Uber will be banned in Israel from 10 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Haaretz.

I posted a warning quite a while ago - about Insurance and UBER. Many of these people were picking up passengers had NO insurance because their personal insurance did not cover COMMERCIAL use of the car (Ie - for hire) - and they did not have commercial insurance which often is very expensive. AND I told the story of one UBER driver who LOST HIS HOUSE when he was sued by a customer due to injury in an accident. Remember - your personal medical insurance does not cover you for a car accident in most states as well - this in normally covered by no-fault provisions in personal insurance - which refused to cover due to the commercial use.

Since most states REQUIRE you to have insurance - especially for HIRE - UBER was bypassing the laws for a while. It was not until the government decided that the drivers were actually employees - that this changed. Still - I would not use an UBER unless they have their insurance card in plain view.
