New Homes Built In The London Will No Longer Accomodate Vehicles
Many of the new housing estates and offices being built in London will be subject to a parking ban on private cars, under new plans announced by the Mayor of London

As part of the London Plan, Mayor Sadiq Khan is aiming to create car-free parking zones in new housing and office developments to cut down on air pollution. Under the draft plans, which will be subjected to a public consultation, housing developments in parts of London that are well-connected by means of public transport will not provide parking for cars, other than for disabled people.

So - Unless you have access to Public Transport to and from work - you cannot work in those buildings - GREAT IDEA for making the old ones worth more. Once you restrict access to these building to basically people who can AFFORD to live in the city (London is incredibly expensive - even more so than NYC) - you eliminate newer - lower paid workers who will need to live outside the city.

This does not make sense for a business -AND I suspect LOTS of them will simply MOVE away - with Brexit closing others.

The war on the car continues by even more brain dead politicians. Can't we just declare war one these asshole politicians instead?

It's already put into law in San Francisco. Maximum # of parking spaces for new construction is around 33% vs the number of units being built. And you don't even own a spot any more. Space is so valuable that valets need to jockey your car around all the time.

London has a pretty robust public transportation system (albeit expensive), doubt a ban like this would have much of an impact to the people that actually live in the city center as long as they can still use car sharing and taxis if they really need a fast ride. I'd expect other urban areas to follow suit when autonomous ridesharing becomes a thing.
