New York's Most Expensive Taxi?

NYC gives incentives for taxi drivers that buy hybrid vehicles. As a result, I've recently seen a few Camry's and the RX. There happens to be more Escape Hybrid taxis on the road though. When you add the $300K a cabbie has to fork over for the right to drive a taxi (cost of a taxi medallion), adding $40k+ for the taxi itself can make driving a cab more expensive than most cabbies can afford!!

Mrs. Clinton's a whore. But anyway, I don't really like that RX. The color is ugly and has anyone been inside of a NY cab? They are trashed. I hate to think of an RX getting trashed.

I actually saw Highlander Hybrid taxis and Escape Hybrid taxis while in NYC, but no RX400h's.

But they ruined it with that yellow paint job! The Escape taxis I saw were in that cool green color, but just with a taxi marker on top!

"Durability" and "reliability" are completely different. Lexuses aren't very durable.

How did I come off as bashing Lexus? I just don't think it will hold up quite as well! The big sedans can take a beating! That's why they're only using one RX and not a whole fleet!

But why can't you admit to something as insignificant as that? Big, RWD, cheap, simply-made American sedans hold up better than $45K luxury crossovers, Lexus or not! If it was any German car I'd say the same thing! Case closed.

europe is changing their taxis to E 320 Bluetech from E 200/20/40

if you know anything about taxis you know that they have been using vics for 40 years. a lexus is not going to change that.
