#LAAUTOSHOW: BMW Reveals A Refreshed i8 And An All New Roadster
BMW expects its new i8 roadster to dominate the sales mix in the i8 plug-in hybrid family when it goes on sale in the spring.

BMW unveiled the 2019 i8 roadster Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The open-top two-seater will join a freshened version of the i8 coupe also going on sale in the spring.

"The higher percentage [of sales] will be in the roadster, definitely," said Robert Irlinger, head of BMW i. "If you're playing in that segment with the very expensive cars, it's always [that] you have to have the newest one."

Irlinger wouldn't reveal how BMW expects the mix to break down, but it is counting on the new roadster and face-lifted coupe to lift overall i8 sales significantly. In the U.S., i8 sales are down 72 percent through the first 10 months of 2017, with just 364 sold. BMW sold 2,265 i8s in the U.S. in 2015, the first full year the car was available.

There is a black one in my area now. Still very cool and Batmobile like. Not sure about a targa top version in a bright colour. Hard to be a baller in your 3cyl sports car with piped in exhaust sounds. If you want to show off by a used Aventador roadster and do it right.

In other BMW news, BMW has just issued a massive recall of ALL i3's every sold in America....

"An obscure safety issue has led to a halt in sales of the BMW i3 electric car until further notice. The German maker announced a recall for every single i3 sold in the United States, covering 30,542 cars from the 2014 to 2018 model year. The safety issue that led to the recall and stop-sale follows recent testing by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration."

Apparently, the i3 was unsafe for thin, trophy-wives, to drive because they were not adequately protected in an accident due to their light weight and petite stature (read the article..I speak the truth).

I guess NHTSA knows who really buys BMW's!

Still ugly and awkward design. Just put it out of its misery once and for all.
