#LAAUTOSHOW: The 2018 Range Rover SVAutobiography — Making Us Wonder Why Even Bother With The Bentayga
If you were to ask me which vehicles I'd have in my fleet should I hit the Powerball, I think you'd be surprised. That's because I wouldn't have a collection full of obscene, 500+ horsepower automobiles.

I am not a child.

One vehicle I could guarantee making my shopping list, however, would be the long wheelbase Land Rover Range Rover. Everything about the vehicle is so choice.

And while the SVAutobiography just takes everything to another level and is completely off-the-charts, you have to remember that high-end luxury sport-utility vehicles still exist. There's the Bentley Bentayga and the soon-to-debut Rolls-Royce Cullinan. But after experiencing the flying "B" and the Rover, I have to say that the SVO vehicle has me questioning "Why bother?" The Land Rover is much better in several categories.

The good news: It's only getting better. Leading into 2018 the company gave the big daddy a makeover, which overhauls its interior electronics. And you can even do silly things like shut the doors at the touch of a button — taking lessons from Rolls-Royce, I see.

See the top of the range Land Rover in the snaps below and let us know what you think!

Beautiful. I don't understand anyone who would go with the very unattractive but crazy-priced Bentayga.

Agree completely.

Bentley, like Rolls Royce, is in the "Super Luxury" arena, while Rover shares the space with the likes of BMW and Mercedes.

All three make you "that guy driving that sort of SUV". If you instead had a Yukon Denali or Toyota Land Cruiser, nobody would even notice you driving by or take note of where you live as they drove past your house.

The excellence of the Range Rover (right size, right design, right trims, right luxury/utility balance) makes it hard to justify buying a Bentayga (too small, strange design elements, trim/colors border on gaudy, EXACTLY the same [size, hardware, crappy third row] as an Audi Q7 once the wood, leather, W12 are stripped away, limited utility).

The Range Rover is a world class vehicle and I disagree with Steve and Canada when they postulate that RR's 'luxury' does not 'scale-up' to the level of the Bentayga (whatever that is).

Just get a Range Rover.

@MRE30 - Don't blame Canada. I did not comment on the Range Rover. I instead suggested taking a more subtle approach when shopping for a luxury full-size SUV.

I can't wait for James Corden to do carpool Karaoke in the new SV!

@MRE30 - They seem to be jumping around to different SUV's. It is a great segment of the show. I watch them on YouTube from time to time.
