Ferrrari To Boost Production As Supercar Sales Mushroom
Ferrari, fabled for its fast cars on roads and race tracks, is packing some extra speed into its factories, too.

The Italian supercar maker, spun off from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV in 2016, plans to boost production by doubling assembly shifts to two a day in 2018 as deliveries are on pace to reach its 9,000-vehicle target a year earlier than scheduled, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named as the matter isn’t public. A Ferrari spokesman declined to comment.

Amazing that they have no done so already. Waiting a few weeks or a month or 2 for a low volume exotic car is one thing. Waiting 2 years is unacceptable. I see a need for 3 shifts to achieve the delivery timelines customers should expect when laying out that kind of cash.

@MD- Why can't I comment on US politics? Or German politics or any other nation? People on this site have taken a poke at Canada, Trudeau, Poutine etc.. It is an open forum where there are no stated limits on conversation. @TheSteve asked you a simple question, nothing more.

To be a non-citizen and tell citizens of that country how they should think politically --AS YOU DO--is arrogant and hubristic. That's why.

Be patient Ferrari. The Trump Tax breaks for the wealthy will leave them enough money to purchase one of your cars.

@Lex - Call me crazy but after the win in Alabama last night, I can see those tax cuts being revisited and a certain President being shown the door after the 2018 Midterm elections in the USA. It's a whole new ballgame. Why? The largest cohort of voters in 2018 will be 18-34 years of age. The trend strongly centre and centre left as voters.

I love how a Canadian thinks he has a right to comment on American politics.

@TheSteve There you go again DELIBERATELY pretending to misunderstand a directly comprehensible statement so as to attempt to put words in people mouths and begin your verbal bullying.

This is your strategy:

Twist words.
Wait for the reply that exposes you for your illogic and write an essay.
Wait for the reply that exposes you for that, write another essay, click you heels, and declare that the conversation is over.

I used to think you were intelligent, but now I know that all you are is a sad little someone who needs to feel superior by twisting and maligning others.

Bye bye Stevie.

@Aspy-11 - Statistics usually don't lie. The same age cohort is coming up in Canada too. And it will have the same implications. As well for more timely news I feel bad for US citizens today as the FCC has struck down laws regarding Net Neutrality. Now ISP's will be able to charge you for access to websites in a package like with cable TV (they do this in Portugal) , throttle the speed of the web for certain sites, basically do whatever they want. Net Neutrality is protected in Canada and my hope is that this new ruling will be challenged in court and put back on the books by the Federal Trade Commission.

@canadiancommie, you do realize that "net neutrality" is an oxymoron and that its repeal makes the operation of the net neutral, right?

Rising stock market = rising sales of hyper cars, particularly to left coast tech geeks. Ferrari tired of buyers going to Lambo and McClaren rather than waiting two years or not making the short list reserved for current owners of other models. Easiest way to piss off the uber rich is telling them they have to wait!

@PUG You are correct. In Canada when McLaren set up shop and sold 68 cars their first year. Over 100 the second year. 6-10 P1's as well. All of these sales came from Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin as the MP4-12C was $270k CAD to start and sold usually at $320k with options.

It will be interesting to see what the increased production will do to resale values and consumer demand. The Uber rich don't like to wait and I made buku bank flipping build contracts to rich narcissistic douches who had to have these cars before their friends did at any cost. The longer the waiting list -the more I made.

Normally increased production would lower demand and resale but you have such an influx of new white trash Kardashian wealth "famous for being famous" and endless brain dead celebrities and grossly over paid athletes that may fuel growth and demand.

I'm long gone out of the game but still enjoy the sideline view as once a gear head and capitalistic pig...

I think we have to be careful and assume anyone described here as 'uber rich' falls into a single segment from a decision-making standpoint.

Indeed, there are impulsive buyers that want it here, now. However, there are also 'pipeline buyers', those folks with many wheels who have orders 3 to 5 years out, before products are even announced or confirmed. These folks appear to get 'quick deliveries' but have in fact waited years to get the particular toy. However, once you're in the system, it's not bad at all...

Genuine collectors would also adopt similar tactics, waiting if needed to have the unique asset that will, hopefully, appreciate.

Anyway, you get the point. Many impulse or impatient buyers want it now and that market was only addressed in one way by Ferrari, 'deep ownership.' They are diversifying. It may be good but that initiative will also impact exclusivity...

@Canadiancomments - I wouldn't pay attention to those retard conservatives, all they care about is themselves and how much people are supposedly "stealing" from them, a group of insecured and frightened children, but they don't represent all Americans. You're welcomed to comment on any country and anything at all time!
