Spy Shots: 2008 Lexus LX470
The original Lexus LX470 was introduced in 1998, and since that year, it has received several minor updates. For 2007, everyone expects a completely new LX. Spy photographers have caught have caught in southern Europe several test vehicles that proved to be the future Toyota Landcruiser. As we know, closely based on that is the luxurious brother Lexus LX.

Through the disguise could be seen that the new pair of SUVs will get a much rounder overall design in contrast with the boxy lines of the current models. It is also expected that the Lexus models will get a more individual design, and make a more obvious departure from the Toyotas. The current LX470 is just a rebadged Landcruiser with a more luxurious approach.

even if it shared its platform with the LC, I personally do not see what the problem is! The LC in its own right is one of the best out there, a tough luxurious robust offroader that does its job, and does it with flying colours, not a poser German mobile.

not a poser German mobile...
=======================================

And which would those be?

Wait, no one brought this up. There were no German fans bashing Lexus when you said this.

Why did you bring it up?

*Confused*

Why would the Germans say otherwise? What does the Landcruiser have to do with the Germans?

The Germans have their own legendary SUV: it's called the Mercedes Gelandewagen and it is just as legendary as the Landcruiser only in a different way. The Landcruiser was an affordable SUV for the masses. The Gelandewagen was always higher-end SUV that matured into a luxury vehicle but without leaving its superb offroad capability behind. I should know, I own one (G500).

Bill, once you get to know Autopsies... nevermind...

Good post BTW.

Platform sharing? You mean the fact that the Lexus LX shares parts etc. with the Landcruiser? Nothing wrong with that, really.

I am one of the few German car fans who think the LC is a fabulous platform to base a Lexus on. And it makes great business sense.

But the car is so old, it's just not competent any more. I mean, a 4.7L V8 with only 270hp? And Infiniti can do better than 310hp with its 5.6L!

I know it won't look like this horrible photoshop. LS lights are so ugly on an SUV.

And actually, it's a photoshopped GX- not even an LX!!!

Looks like a photochop to me - using a lot of the current Lexus GX [side profile], Toyota Sienna [rear lights] however I don't care. I am just excited that there may be a new LX model very soon - hopefully with a much more powerful engine - so that I have something to buy when I trade my LX.

That's one really ugly photoshop pic. Actually the GX is always ugly and unneeded.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it! All like the Big Benz but this LEXUS will for sure shake the Benz cage! Strongly!

That thing looks cool even though it is an unholy mutant LS/GX

Thats all photochop: GX Body, LS Modified front lights, Sienna Modified Rear Lights. GX Wheels and the trunk has the handle in the same place. They didnt even bother to use the LX for the photochop.

Bill, I'm sorry, but the G500 is one of the ugliest vehicles ever created...yuck!! They

I think it's very cool-looking. G500 may be crude, but quite distinctive.

Still, I'd rather have a Range Rover. Trading slightly better reliability and exclusivity (G500) for a positively opulent interior. Range Rover is popular for a reason.

And I doubt that it will still be called "LX470". Check my new Tundra article on the 5.7L, 380hp V8- there's a better chance that it'll be called LX570.
