NAIAS: RDX To Finally Lose Pokemon Looks With First American Restyle

Acura's RDX, the top-selling luxury compact crossover in the U.S. as recently as 2015, is undergoing its most extensive redesign in more than a decade as it squares off against a wave of new rivals.

The 2019 RDX will be the first Acura model to be completely overhauled since designer Jon Ikeda took over as general manager of Honda Motor Co.'s luxury brand in 2015.

What Honda needs is a readily recognizable styling that is not a copy of all of the other brands that have 6 sided grills - or huge cow catchers.

THere was a time - when cars were actually restyled every year - that brands had styling unique to the brand - such as the upright Cadillac Tail Lights - so one always knew it was a certain brand.

When FORD decided to copy the Aston style grille - then it seems like virtually every other brand did so in some way. THAT is not styling - that is stenciling.
I hope Honda comes out with its own look.

I watched the teaser video for this and it looks like this is going to be a big hit for Acura. The interior and exterior both look to be moving in the right direction.

Agreed. I'm really excited to see in what direction they take the interior and how much of the precision concept interior is incorporated. The info screen is super wide so hopefully the interface they use will be much better than the ones they offer today.

When Acura goes daring they go hideous and when they try to be tasteful, they go dull. They do not have the capacity to get it right.

It should be quite interesting to see which motors and transmissions are offered... Guessing it will start with the Accord 1.5lT/CVT and 2.0lT/10Spd setup initially and perhaps later offer their V6T I read they are currently working on.

Yeah, I don't understand the whole "Pokemon" reference at all. Then again, it is 009.
