Video Showdown: Lexus LC 500 Vs. Aston Martin DB11 V8 - Which Is Overrated?
Take a good look at the Lexus LC 500 and the Aston Martin DB11 V8. Which is prettier? Impossible to answer because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Despite its unusual styling, the LC 500 is a wondrous thing to look at, especially in the flesh. There are just so many interesting angles and shapes and curves going on. It’s impossible to mistake it for something not from Japan. Whereas the DB11 V8 is about as beautiful as you can get coming out of the UK.

While I can see the Head to Head logic of this comparison, nobody is going to be cross shopping these two cars. The Aston has a very different appeal to the Lexus. If you really like one, it is highly unlikely the other will strike you the same. The design of the Lexus is just too much and too cartoonish for me. The Aston DB11 is sophisticated and quietly handsome in its design. Neither model is a sport scar. If that is what you want look elsewhere.

You'd be surprised what cars get cross shopped. I used to sell Lexus'. Once had a Bentley as a trade in, that the customer purchased new, traded it in after only 3 years. Have seen Corvette's traded in, Porsche 911s. Have had customers who have Lexus' and Aston Martin's in the garage, as well as have seen at customers houses, Ferrari's(and not the base ones like a 348). Had one customer in Pennsylvania with a Maybach. That being said, yes, they are not the same league, but are similar cars, in their purpose. Just at different price points.

Well, both have 4 wheels and an engine, so in that sense they are competitors.

I'm a bit torn on the DB11. On one hand it's a stunning looking car. Very elegant and perfectly fits the price class it is competing in. On the other hand it's almost too feminine, with a wimpy looking front end (just like the new Vantage).

Regarding the Lexus, I've seen several in the past few days in various colors and it already looks dated. The front-end DOES have a nice aggressive look to it, but the profile is choppy and the rear end is absolutely tragic.

The DB11.. A Mercedes at twice the price, and all DB11 are so over produced that they are sitting at port waiting for dealers to buy them. Aston is a house of Cards, with all the hype solely for the purpose of floating a sale or IPO. The brand is soon to join the dust bin of has been, in the best car market in decades, AM can only break even with some very fancy accounting.

Lexus on the other hand, will restrain supply to protect your purchase value, this is a purpose built car that is not figured as the savior of the brand...but an inducement to get someone to recognize that Lexus is not totally boring...a halo car...
DB11... OR Lexus.... chose Lexus to lose less of your money and drive your car more than your DB11 mechanic does. That is a beautiful thing.

Your first paragraph is spot on.
So is paragraph 2.

Aston Martin may not be quite ready for the grave. They have secured another air base to be the site of a new plant to build the DBX crossover. The DB11 is well received and is selling well (despite port authority sightings). Again if you want a DB11, you are not looking at an Benz SL. You can't compare a bespoke car to a mass produced automobile. Yes they depreciate like a stone as do other supercars, but for this kind of owner, the kind that wants a custom paint colour or specific shade of leather or carbon tint, interior feature or fitted luggage, that is entirely besides the point.
