Is the Chrysler Group for Sale?

During a presentation to analysts and journalists today, DaimlerChrysler CFO Bodo Uebber refused to rule out the sale or spinoff of its unprofitable Chrysler group. "We don't exclude anything here," including structural changes, Uebber said during his third-quarter earnings teleconference today.

Yeah, really. They were talking about an interest for Ghosn this morning but I wonder if a Chinese automaker would be a more suitable suitor. I hope not but you can never tell.

Sad, but I guess this is why Daimler decided to distribute Smart outside of the Chrysler Group.
..Kerkorian should dump his GM stock and buy the Chrysler group and watch GM crash and burn from accross town.

It was crazy to believe that Chrysler Corp and DaimlerBenz could ever be "equals" as they continue to operate in such diverse fashions. DaimlerBenz shares would immediately increase on news of a possible sale of the Chrysler Group. Additionally, a spin-off might take a bit of the negative attention away from the MercedesBenz Group and allow it to focus more on quality and core characteristics. But for future Chryslers to share a lot more Benz parts isn't a bad thing either.

The good thing is these are 2 good businesses...that bad thing is they have soo many good concepts and possible ideas that they can't possibly do everything. And the only way to use all their newer technology and spread it across divisions is to share more.

Benz blaming problems isn't going to help. The new Chrysler's are good and selling well (I see them everywhere). What does MB think it will be great after the sale.

Chrysler without MB is already DEAD!

Ford Europe has any future, but Ford USA, Mercury and Lincoln - I don't think so!!!

yea i dont think any company would buy the chrysler group. if anything happend they would just split the merger and chrysler would wind up the benofactor of better technology for their vehicles while MB would get nothing (except the know-how to cut cost at the price of quality) this isnt a shot at chrysler, hey i work for them, but its more like they need these empty threats to kick it into gear and dominate while ford and gm are still rolling. i think gm will be the first and maybe only american car company to collapse and have indevidual names bought out by other companies. (the bigger they are the harder they fall) once they go all-americans will only have 2 options and sales will increase for both of them.
