Volkswagen Will Probably Fall To 2nd In Global Sales Race, But Not To Toyota
We interrupt our self-imposed Christmas holiday with the news that in all likelihood, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance will end the year as the world’s largest automaker group. Volkswagen Group most likely will come in second.

11 months into the year, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance remains in front of a very tight field.  Volkswagen Group revved-up mightily with an 11.1% increase of deliveries in November, and it allowed it to bypass Toyota for a #2 position. Despite being held back by Nissan’s production problems, which decreased the company’s Japanese output by 43% in November, the Alliance continued its strong pace. Year-to-date, Renault is up 10%, Mitsubishi increased its output by 11%.

So VW and Renault are racing for who wears the crown of the maker of the most automotive garbage? I'd rather have a Toyota.

Which company would you rather own? Each has its pluses and each has its minuses. Personally VW's stable of brands is more appealing to me than the others.

I'd rather own a Toyota. The Camry is better than any VW and the Lexus LC is the gotta have premium coupe for sheer style. I just can't tolerate VWAG's careless attitude to reliability.

Renault makes the best FWD chassis on earth. In Europe the Renault Megane is the hot hatch to beat. Perhaps Honda has reached parity with the Type R. So my question is why can't they just be rebadged as Nissan Sentra's and sold here in the US? Further Renault has just come out with their new Alpine A110. It's gotten rave reviews. Why can't they make a slightly cheaper version and rebadge it as the new Z replacement?
I'm not so sure if Renault is garbage like VW.

Given that Nissans are essentially rebodied Renaults and given how terrible Nissan's reliability is, Renault is crap.

Not that it matters who is the largest, the Alliance does not seem to constitute a single corporation. They appear to be separate companies that own share in each other. Toyota owns share of Subaru and Mazda, and so could then be the biggest.
