BMW 335ci Road Test

I was looking for the "C" in the model they road tested, as the headline suggests. Not there. Damn. This is just the coupe.

Without having driven the 335, I share Csaba Csere's notion of skepticism over BMW's use of a turbo; but no one seems to be complaining... and I have to admit I like the idea of "regular" 335 competing with the previous M.

Also, it seem like I’m in the minority, but I like Bangle's "experiments." Save for the tail lights of the 3 sedan (which aren't just bad, they're atrocious) and first iteration of the 7 tail lights (which are now nicely cleaned up on the 750). The 3 coupe is the pinnacle of his work, and in my opinion is now the sexiest and most alluring car under $50K… Now if they could only add some "Type B" to their "Type A" interiors.

I want a 335xi coupe for my next winter car. Of course, BMW's new best engine isn't available with AWD in the gorgeous 3 Series coupe... and I am NOT getting a sedan. Unless I really need to.

Why do you need all wheel drive? Snow tires is really all anyone needs for 90% of your driving. Besides are you buying a car for 360 days a year or 5 days a year?

I'm a little obsessed w/ AWD due to quattro's tractional ability. I only want AWD for a winter car-- and the whole point of my winter car is not AWD, but because I don't want to put my convertible through such a harsh season. There may not be snow every day for two months, but there's heavy rain, hail, and because I live in the Chicago area, very random, spontaneous weather. I'm just not taking that chance.

I grew up in a snow area believe me quattro is the best in the snow
and AWD is good for high Torque cars

S4cabriofox, as far as I know there is no 335xi sedan. I know there is no 335xi coupe so they probably wouldn't make it in sedan form either.

I say get the 335i coupe. No xi, and no convertible. Just the 335i coupe in montego blue as pictured in this article with whatever interior you like and premium,sport,cold weather packages and navigation as well as park distance control and satellite radio.

That S4cabrio will be my next car with a creme beige interior with dark gray wood trim.

Wait- before you said you were getting a 335i, and now you want my car? I mean, my car is fabulous, but I'm confused.

And I'm quite sure they will make a 335xi sedan, but the only reason they didn't make a 335xi coupe is because the 335i coupe is the flagship performance 3 Series (besides the M3). The sedan, however, would logically come with AWD to replace the 330xi.

There will be an 335xi sedan. That's a fact.

In two years, I'm giving A3 to my son and getting a new winter car.

In three years, when kids are out of law school/college, I'm probably getting rid of S4 and getting a 911.

I'm surprised how BMW tinkers with their cars ever so slightly, but the result is HUGE.

Take for example the 745Li to 750Li. The rear is smoothed out the lights fixed and the i-Drive simplified.

The 330i goes from already class leading and powerful to as fast as the E46 M3 AND the rear lights on the coupe were FIXED with the 335i coupe & sedan.

750li looks much better than 745li, much smoother.

Nobody was able to challenge the 3 series so far, tough MB and Audi came closer, and the upcoming new generation should be great cars.


The reason why they took this path is because of european legislation.

Their new engine provides good performance (power/torque), nice fuel eficiency and low emissions, crucial for the european markets.

So please next time come up with facts, not troll nonsense.

A little BMW-biased, but overall a decent review. I'm attracted to the diesel 335d though.

The 335i is the best-looking BMW of this millenium, IMHO.

Actually, the Z8 probably was (I loved it), but the 335i is for people who need cars that are actually semi-accessible.

Nope, the Z4 (M) coupe is.
And it depends what you mean by accessible.
