Facelifted Porsche Macan Caught Almost Cammo Free

Facelifted Porsche Macan Caught Almost Cammo Free
The facelifted Porsche Macan is edging closer to its reveal this year and was recently snapped on film with very little camouflage.

To the casual observer, this black Porsche is just any old Macan. However, a closer look reveals that it has hints of camouflage on the headlights and taillights, identical to the touches applied to previous prototypes.

The Macan is a delightful, compact SUV in all respects... except the hefty price tag. Personally, I'd sacrifice some engine power for better fuel economy, but that's not The Porsche Way.

Sacrificing some engine power for better fuel economy is what the Audi version is for. The Porsche Macarena is all about having fun, damn the consequences.

Maybe I should have waited for this facelift but my wife seems to be extremely happy with her new car and I got a great deal at Hennessy Porsche.

It is an attractive CUV for sure, but I shake my head at folks who spend that kind of coin on such a small vehicle. The Turbo S version is crazy money.I would make a different choice or at least try to convince my imaginary better half there are other options to consider.

The people who buy the Porsche Macarena want a "Porsche" but they don't want a Porsche. All they want is the brand. Then when you factor in that it's a badge-engineered Audi like the Cayenne is a badge-engineered VW it becomes even more pathetic.

@MDarringer let me tell you why we bought a Macan. As you know my wife had a Toaureg V8 which she loved. We purchased it new back in 2009 and it was a great vehicle. My wife was between the MDX (4 of her friends already have one), the Audi Q5 Prestige or the Q7 Premium, the Volvo XC90. I wanted her to get an RX but she made it clear that 90% of the people driving them are over 60 years old and she didn't care for the front fascia of the car. Both the GLE and X5 are looking a little outdated plus my neighborhood is packed with them. Additionally, my wife doesn't like driving what everyone else does, we have been married for 25 years and I much rather keep her happy and get her what she likes. Her #1 choice was a 2018 Q5 prestige but the best price we were able to get was one for $53K and it wasn't the color combo she liked. I could have gotten an MDX AWD with the technology package for $49K (cheapest car of all the ones we were looking at), all the Q7s we looked at were over $56K. Knowing that the Macan and Q5 are basically the same cars I drove to Porsche of Jacksonville but they only had a few Macans in there inventory. They offered to order one exactly like she wanted it for $63K. We found a 2018 Macan in Black with red leather, with 20 inch spyder wheels and very nicely equipped on sale for $56K from $62.5K. I personally think it was a no brainer plus my wife fell in love with it. I flew to Atlanta, they picked me up at the airport and I drove it home. It was a great experience, no haggling and they got me on the rode in less that an hour. Nothing pathetic about it and she gets complements left and right about the CUV.

@USNA if you're happy with it fine. My wife has extremely expensive tastes as well.

When I was shopping for a new vehicle, the (2015) Audi Q5 and the Porsche Macan were in the running. The comparisons were as follows:

Q5:
+ More spacious
+ Much better fuel economy (especially with the diesel engine)
+ Superior "bang for the buck". A Really compelling offering, for the price

Macan:
+ Prettier (arguably)
+ Better handling (absolutely glorious, for an SUV)
+ Notably more luxurious interior
+ Lots of configuration options, so you can get exactly what you want
- "Crazy expensive" once you factor in your options. Base is pricey, too.
- Interior is smallish. Less cargo capacity

If money were no object for me, I would have probably done the Macan. It's a really easy car to enjoy. It's functional (though smallish), and feels great. It has also proven to be respectable in terms of defect numbers and durability. Even though I am not a Macan owner, and I don't aspire to be one, it is most certainly "my cup of tea", and a great vehicle!

It's hardly and Audi since only 20% of the parts are the same.

Not to mention the Turbo will outperform any other SUV out there and tons of non-SUVs. IF you're only going to have one car that can do it all, there is a strong case to be made for the Macan.
