Cadillac Is Getting Ready To Build A New Small Crossover
General Motors Co. is gearing up one of its car plants to build a new Cadillac crossover with hopes of reversing the luxury brand’s sales slump in the U.S., according to people familiar with the matter.

The automaker has begun building test versions of the Cadillac XT4 at its assembly plant in Kansas City, said the people, who asked not to be named because the company hasn’t yet announced production plans. Tom Wickham, a GM spokesman, declined to comment.

Cadillac and small are an oxymoron and the people in their NYC design studio don't get it.

Cadillac is trying to be something they are not and never will be - a full line Premium (European type) car manufacturer.

The word CADILLAC is synonymous with BIG, BOLD and (once) Luxurious.
The reason why Cadillacs do not sell well is the reason why the Escalade does sell - even at a premium price - it is IN YOUR FACE big.

Cadillac has brought out many little tiny cars that should be a sub-brand to real Cadillacs - when the top of the line Cadillac should be the AMERICAN ROLLS ROYCE - nothing less.

WHile is may be nice to have great performance - and even very good platforms and handling - but they do not FINE CORINTHIAN LEATHER - ie - they are no longer what the middle class aspires to.

Produce a new Seville -a large 4 door sedan and/or cuv - with Rolls type room and styling - and they would not be able to keep one on the lot to show. Make it HUGE - Make it in your face - make it quiet in side, let the ride be a smooth as a newly paved Interstate, and put a big honking V-8 under the hood for passing the lesser folks - and put MADE IN THE USA somewhere it can be seen

My CT6 may be a nice car - even better than the Lincoln Continental - but it may as well be in CAMO - there is no presence - and it looks much smaller than it is. (In fact - it looks as small as a CTS)

Give it a name other than XT4.

Well, it'll be a sales success, just like the XT5. There are only so many choices for American-branded luxury crossovers, no matter how not-great they actually are.
