001, should I get a Targa or a Cabrio for my next car? I need you to reply to this! I'm torn! The Targa is a little less money (I'd be getting an S model of both), but I have a convertible now and love it!

I'd get that orange if you want to stand out. Beautiful! Either that, or dark blue over beige, or Cobalt Blue over custom Cocoa interior.

Cabrio my friend...my wife's is cobalt blue and I love driving it more than she does.

But there is a gorgeous Cobalt Blue Carrera cabrio across the street, with amazing wheels, that I can't stop staring at. It has a blue top, also. I may have to give in sooner than three years... but I love my S4...

Do you seriously need that "S" badge that adds .3 seconds onto your 0-60??? For several thousand $$$ more? A total waste of money. Get more options instead.

I think i'd have to agree and disagree with you. I've driven the carrera S and it FEELS faster than the carrera (because it is). And when you dip into the throttle, especially at cruising speeds, you can tell that you have that extra 30 horses behind you, although, you're right, the performance difference between the two models is not like getting behind the wheel of an F430 after driving a civic.

I agree, though, that the performance boost is not worth the $12,200 premium...especially because you could get behind the wheel of a GT3 (lightning fast)for the same price as a well-optioned carrera s.

With porsche it's all a matter of personal preference. My personal preference would be the track inspired GT3, while others looking for more of a daily driver might want a loaded carrera.

An annoying price difference is the $10K between the cabrio and coupe; I believe the Targa is actually more expensive than both.

I still think I'd pick the Cabrio, though. I just love convertibles.

And yes, 5.3 seconds to 60 is not that much worse than 5.1 for the Carrera S cabrio! And Porsche's estimates are way off. Someone got a C4S coupe to do it in 4.1 seconds; Carrera convertible should be in the mid to high fours.

It must be something even more sporty, if that's possible. Unless you're the luxury-sedan type.

For us, it's opposite. My wife is into luxury and I'm an enthusiast.

The targa is more expensive than the carrera s/cab s, but less expensive than the carrera 4s/cab 4s

I guess it depends on how important the AWD is to you, and styling of course...

At this point, I'm actually kicking myself...I sold my my cayenne turbo and just downgraded to a Jeep (yes, I said a jeep) in order to assist in financing grad school and some other business ventures.

The majority of my income comes from swing/day trading securities (namely, foreign exchange currency pairs), so my garage depends largely on my account performance, which has not been good the last 6 months. We'll see what the future brings...as I said I have my eye on the GT3 ;)

But my wife still works hard, so she gets to keep her toys. I'm trying to talk her into trading in our three cars and buying his and hers S6's, but so far she hasn't taken the bait.

Ah, so school has finally hit you.

I'd be on to bigger and better things if I didn't have one kid in college and another in law school... sob. But it's worth it in the long run, right? I mean, they choose my nursing home.

Gray/Silver/Black/Dark Blue are SO over as colors. Even stodgy owners I've been talking to this year are finally getting sick of them. Get Cobalt or Guards Red or Speed Yellow.

Or even better, order Signal Yellow as a paint-to-sample.

Guards Red is beautiful. A very Ferrari-like color. It definitely turns heads.

Cobalt Blue is also a great color. That's what I'd get, assuming I get a 911.

Or possibly red, actually. Guards Red is a no-cost option, as opposed to $700 for Cobalt.

The 3 Series will be my winter car, but a 911 would replace the S4 as my daily driver.

Please, think before starting rumors about me.

Think about this: I have an S4 Cabrio as my daily, and an A3 for the winter. My kids will be out of school in three years, and I will pretty easily be able to attain a $100K car by then. The 3 Series coupe will probably replace the A3 in two years, when my son takes the A3 to be his first car. He loves cars like I do, and it's appropriate to give him one that he will appreciate... if he earns it, of course.
