#NAIAS Debut On The Way? All-new BMW 8-Series Snapped FULLY NUDE And Sans Camo
Probably the biggest debut for BMW in 2017, the 8-Series was an interesting concept vehicle to reveal. That's because it is a high-end offering that's super niche. Does the S-Class Coupe need a competitor that bad?

I would say that the X7 Concept is neck-and-neck with the 8'er to claim the most important debut for BMW in 2017; however, it comes from a different angle. It will be a volume product that fills a market need. The 8-Series is more of a heritage piece that is supposed to harken back to the good 'ol days of the blue and white.

Newsflash! The all-new 8-Series has been fully revealed without its camouflage.

While we do not know exactly when the vehicle will get its primetime debut, it wouldn't be a shocker if the car was revealed at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) next week. That's because manufacturers are always looking to bring a surprise to the show.

Knowing the Bavarians though, this will be held until the Geneva Motor Show (GIMS) for latest Q1 2018.

Until then, you can enjoy the car captured in these two spy shots. As you can see, it sticks pretty close to the concept vehicle. Do YOU notice any significant changes or differences?

All the "positive design drama" of the concept appears to have been toned down to basically just looking like an evolution of the 6-coupe styling. Disappointed for what I see here. Still crossing my fingers that the complete package comes out good when it can be seen in full view.

I think someone ran into the a$$ of that new 8 Series.

It looks horribly dull. This is a massive let down, but we knew it would be.

What you could've said: they could've done better with the design... I wish more people would exercise more restraint and manners online... Honestly Matt, I do enjoy reading some of your posts, but the negativity is truly a bit much... I am pretty sure many here agree as they consistently de-boost your posts.

The pictures are terrible and not a great basis for judgement AT ALL. Let's all wait to see the 8 with proper photos and then weigh in...

This looks like a warmed-over 6-series at a likely much higher price.

I suspect the sales results will be disappointing. Maybe BMW can re-badge it an re-market the platform as a cheap two-door Rolls Royce (ala the S650 Maybach cabriolet)?

I never got the 6-series - it was basically a BMW Thunderbird/Eldorado/Riviera take your pick, driven by seniors.

While these are all valid points, lets not get ahead of ourselves. Pictures don't always do some designs justice. I'll reserve judgement
until I see one in the flesh, hopefully ay NY Auto Show this spring.

Looks a lot like some Hyundai cars.

Looks remarkably like the Kia Stinger, especially from the front. But, these are just pictures.

The pictures aren't the best but it looks like a slightly modified 6-Series Coupe that will cost $30K more. Is there a large enough market for that type of car assuming the 6-Series remains available for sale? I'm not sure there is and the S-Class Coupe won't make it any easier for BMW.

I'll wait until the full reveal but BMW appears to have a problem here given the design and price in light of the competition.
