GM Ramps Up Crew Cab Production Because Americans Are Becoming Addicted To Gas Guzzlers

General Motors is increasing capacity to produce crew cab versions of its next-generation pickups, according to product boss Mark Reuss.

The automaker, according to Reuss, has been "constrained" when it comes to output of larger, four-door pickups that have significantly increased in popularity in recent years.

The "addiction" to gas guzzlers will slowly temper as fuel prices continue to rise. Remember when gas was $4/gallon (in the US, for international readers) and some Americans were crying at the pump that "someone should do something"? Well, if pump prices are a consideration, then your vehicle is likely a multi-year relationship, so you should plan accordingly.

For what it's worth gasoline prices have been trending generally upwards for the past ~1.5 years, since that atypical low in mid 2016.

WE area actually hitting the spot for prices where oil from fracking becomes economically viable. (Which currently is around $60 per barrel)

AS a result - the countries have been trying to keep oil at about the current price - so that the added fracking production does not glut the market. So the price of oil will not be going up that much more in the near future. OF course - once everyone is using EVs - fueled with solar power - there will be plenty of oil for the antique cars left around.

Once must also remember that - as the world returns to a two class system - rich and poor - and the middle class largely disappears - the poor will not be able to afford cars - and the rich - who will be able to - will not really care about the cost.

Because Americans Are Becoming Addicted To Gas Guzzlers - just stupid comment! Americans can spend their $$ on whatever the want... what are YOU addicted to? Seriously cars are dramatically more efficient than they were 20 years ago so gas guzzlers is it term subject to interpretation.

It's a foolish title. Europeans would drive what we drive if their fuel prices weren't made artificially high to force social engineering through economic oppression.

Agent009 at it again with the title - he just pushed the big read button.

Give me a reliable EV truck with the same price point as its gasoline counterpart, tow capacity of 10,000 lbs and similar range. Americuns would quickly begin to switch its drug of choice.

Poor fascist-socialist snowflake unicorn. You can still buy a wheezer and save the world. Remember, you're greener than thou. So buck up, little man and get out in that big world and sneer at people you perceive as lesser than you.
