According to Auto Guide, the latest NHTSA recall related to faulty Takata inflators is for a very specific set of Ford Ranger models built in 2006.

This is a wide ranging problem. We have recall notices on our Mercedes, Lexus and Scion for the airbag issue. Most of the manufacturers don't have replacement parts, so you get the notification saying you will be informed when the parts are available.

And to add to that, customers get angry with dealers for lack of parts, but EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY manufacturers often ship replacement parts only for actual service orders. Sometimes if we order a part for Joe Smith's recall and he doesn't show up, we lose that part when it is shipped back. The public thinks parts magically show up--some do and some are a make the customer wait proposition
