Should Lexus Follow The LFA Supercar With A Second Generation ?

Should Lexus Follow The LFA Supercar With A Second Generation ?
The Lexus LFA supercar was almost beyond comprehension. Jalopnik bossman Patrick George once described it perfectly “Its name stands for Lexus ***king Awesome.” Lexus knows we want another one, but will they ever build it? Well, it hasn’t said yes, but it hasn’t closed the door either.

The Lexus LFA was far removed from any other car that the Japanese luxury brand has made. It was a legit supercar, more Ferrari than Lexus, with a price-tag of almost $400,000. Under the hood was a screaming, naturally aspirated V10 that sounded like a Formula 1 race car.
Today it is still one of the rarest supercars you will ever encounter, as Lexus only made 500 copies between 2010 and 2012. Some are mysteriously still out there for sale as brand “new” cars.

The FLA was from it's time and times have changed. If they did a new one it would likely be a BEV or hybrid for sure. The F1 wail that was its calling card would likely be gone. But if they could do it with a 3.0L V10 that still screamed and a hybrid assist maybe that would be a way to go about a follow-up car. But I hardly think it is a priority.

No, I think the LFA has proven the point :-/

NOPE!

They should create a "Corvette" for $50-75K that would sell well and actually raise the image of the brand.

NO - obviously unless they can actually sell them at a great profit - Toyota is not where Supercars that people will want will come from. If you are going to charge Ferrari prices - you may as well get a Ferrari.

No. I like Paris Hilton staying in the woodwork.

Shouldn't they finish selling the first generation before thinking about a second generation. Last I heard there were still 12 new LFA at the dealers.

Lexus should build on the good reviews of the LC500 and the upcoming LC-F should be seen somewhat as a successor to the LF-A, at a more accessible price. They would have to put the LC on a significant diet, but it can be done. Just removing the back seats and center console area probably is good for a few hundred pounds.

Whatever Lexus does, they need NOT to make a vehicle that costs a multiple of the next most expensive Lexus. A halo vehicle only works if it is theoretically an attainable step. The LFA was just Toyota doing a knuckle shuffle and nothing more.

So they need to make an NSX/i8/GT-R competitor, something the more attainable GT-86 could borrow from and aspire to.
