Peugeot Officially Places US Market On Notice - Who Should Be Worried?
More than twenty years after exiting the American market, French brand Peugeot has announced that they are looking to return to the US with the help of Opel engineers. Peugeot acquired Opel and Vauxhall from General Motors in 2017 as part of the company's global expansion plans. Peugeot CEO Carlos Tavares made the announcement at the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, revealing that development of the cars for the American market has already begun.

Pretty much this. Peugeot isn't exactly a dominant brand even in Europe.

I think PSA should worry. WE have already established that the US market is not buying sedans in the numbers it once was - and it is buying crossovers in much larger numbers. One problem is that European sedans are smaller than US ones - and as FCA made the mistake of making the 200 too small (Among other problems) - Peugeot should not make that mistake. They will need to err on the side of LARGER tweeners - and that creates a problem - since they do not sell in EUROPE.

Since VW has already failed at attempts to make USA specific cars as well - i really think that the US market is NOT oriented towards low-middle premium Euro cars - and they really cannot try to move Peugeot upmarket - that won't work at all.

THEY do have ONE possible opening IF they produce a really really exceptionally well styled car with better than competitive handling and power - a REAL Looker. People will buy that the first time. FOr the rest - that is up to them

Kia - all the Kia's sold in the US look like they could be Peugeots.

Or maybe Peugeot should worry that all the Peugeots they hope to sell in the US will look like Kia's that have, not too successfully, been on sale in the US for 20 years.

Curious.

The French are looking at themselves in the fun house distorted mirror imagining themselves bigger than they really are.

The French nation is being overrun by immigrant foreigners and subversive muslims leaving less and less French controlling the trajectory of France. The country is nothing resembling what it once was.

France - The spit that keeps on spitting...

I may have misspelled something.

Has anyone ever noticed that the supposed technological advances of the French auto industry are usually dubious in nature and of catastrophically poor quality control?
